Well, let me tell you, if you liked that movie “Splice” from 2009, you might be lookin’ for somethin’ else just like it, right? You know, somethin’ that gets under your skin, makes you think twice about what’s out there in the world. There’s quite a few movies like it, where things ain’t quite what they seem, and science gets a little bit too curious for its own good. Now, don’t go gettin’ all fancy with your highfalutin words, I’m just gonna tell you straight up what’s out there.
Now, first off, let’s talk about this movie “Splice.” It’s all about these two scientists, Elsa and Clive, who are workin’ with genetic stuff. They decide to mix human DNA with some other creature’s DNA, which, let me tell you, is not somethin’ you wanna mess with. And of course, it all goes wrong, as things tend to do when folks think they can play God. They end up creatin’ a creature, Dren, and, well, things get mighty strange from there. But that’s just the start of the story. If you liked that one, there’s a whole bunch of others that’ll make you feel that same eerie, uncomfortable feeling.
1. “Species” (1995)
If you’ve been around a bit, you probably remember this one. It’s another one where science goes and plays with fire, mixing human and alien DNA. This movie’s got some horror, some action, and a whole lotta tension. It’s a classic for sure, and it’ll make you squirm in your seat just like “Splice” did. You might even recognize the lovely Natasha Henstridge, who plays a creature created from alien DNA. Oh boy, she’s something else, I’ll tell ya that much.
2. “The Fly” (1986)
This here is a real oldie but goodie. It’s a story about a scientist who gets a little too curious with his teleportation experiment. Well, it all goes to pieces when he ends up mixin’ his own DNA with a fly’s. You can imagine where this goes, right? It’s got that body horror vibe, just like “Splice,” and if you liked the whole human-animal hybrid thing, you’ll probably want to check this one out too. It’s got creepy, gooey, and emotional all in one. Real nasty stuff, in the best way.

3. “The Island of Dr. Moreau” (1996)
Now this one here’s a bit wild. It’s got that same feelin’ of man tamperin’ with nature, and what happens when you mess with the laws of biology. The island in the movie is full of animal-human hybrids, and let me tell you, it’s a sight to see. Marlon Brando’s in it, and he’s as bizarre as the rest of it. So if you liked how things went south in “Splice,” you might wanna take a peek at this one too. It’s got that same “what in the world are they doin’?” vibe.
4. “Monsters” (2010)
Now, this here one’s a bit different. It’s not all about DNA and hybrids, but it’s got that similar feel of a strange world and things not being quite right. In this one, there’s a whole bunch of alien creatures that take over parts of the world. It’s got that slow burn, suspenseful feel, and it’s more about the journey of two people tryin’ to get outta the infected zones. But still, if you like the idea of humans messin’ with things they can’t understand, you might enjoy it.
5. “The Human Centipede” (2009)

Now, I’m not gonna lie, this one’s a bit more on the disturbing side of things. If you think “Splice” made you cringe, wait till you see this one. It’s about a mad doctor who does some horrible experiments on people. I won’t spoil it for ya, but it’s one of them movies where you just sit there thinkin’, “Why would anyone do such a thing?” But, if you like movies that really get under your skin, it’s worth a watch. Just don’t eat before you watch it, trust me on that one.
6. “Ex Machina” (2014)
Now here’s another one that plays with technology and the boundaries of what’s human. It’s more about artificial intelligence than DNA, but it’s got that same unsettling, “what if?” feel to it. In “Ex Machina,” a young programmer gets invited to a fancy house to test a new AI, and things go south real quick when the AI starts actin’ more human than anyone expected. It’s got that suspense and tension just like “Splice,” where you’re never quite sure what’s gonna happen next.
7. “Upgrade” (2018)
Now, this one’s a bit more on the sci-fi side, but it’s still got that dark, uncomfortable feeling of things goin’ wrong. It’s about a man who gets turned into a cyborg after an accident. He’s got this chip in his spine that helps him move, but it also messes with his mind. If you like stories about technology, human modification, and a touch of horror, you might find this one a good follow-up to “Splice.” It’s got the same “mankind pushin’ too far” kinda theme, and it’s full of action and suspense.

8. “Annihilation” (2018)
If you liked the weird, unpredictable nature of “Splice,” you might wanna check out “Annihilation.” It’s a story about a team of scientists who venture into a mysterious area that’s been altered by some kinda strange force. The creatures and plants they find in there are like nothin’ they’ve ever seen before, and it’s all tied up in some kinda biological and psychological mystery. It’s eerie and beautiful in a strange way, and it’ll keep you on the edge of your seat.
So there you have it, a bunch of movies like “Splice” that’ll give you that same creepy, science-gone-wrong vibe. If you’re in the mood for a little bit of horror, a lotta tension, and some strange creatures or experiments, these films will hit the spot. Just don’t expect any happy endings, cause these stories aren’t about that. They’re about what happens when we try to play around with things we ain’t meant to.
