Well, howdy there! Let me tell ya somethin’ about these here… uh… horror movie pop figures. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but my grandkids, they love ’em. Little plastic things, all kinds of scary faces and such.
First off, what are these things anyway? They call ’em “Funko Pops,” or somethin’ like that. Seems like everythin’s got a Pop these days. Movies, games, even that fella with the bat wings from that one show… you know the one. Anyways, these horror movie Pops, they’re all the rage. Little monsters and such, but kinda cute, ya know? Not like them scary movies they make now, all jump scares and whatnot. Back in my day, scary was scary, not just loud noises and fast cuts.
- They got all sorts, I tell ya. Vampires, werewolves…
- One time, my grandkid showed me one, looked like a mummy all wrapped up in bandages. Reminded me of that time old man Johnson tripped and fell into the toilet paper rolls down at the general store.
- Oh, and them Frankenstein fellas, all stitched up and green.
- And them ghosties, too. Spooky stuff, but like I said, kinda cute in a weird way.
Now, where do you even find these things? Seems like they’re everywhere. Them big stores, the little toy shops, even saw some at the flea market last week, next to the fella sellin’ them pickled pigs’ feet. You can even get ’em online, I hear. But I ain’t messin’ with that internet stuff. Too complicated for this old gal.
But why do folks like ’em so much? I reckon it’s ’cause they remind ya of the movies. Like them old Universal monster movies. You know, the Wolfman, the Mummy, that Bride of Frankenstein… they were somethin’ else. Scared the bejesus outta me when I was a young’un, but I still watched ’em. These Pop figures, they’re like little reminders of them good ol’ scary times.
And it ain’t just the old stuff neither. They got Pops for them newer horror movies too. Them slasher flicks, the spooky ghost stories… My grandkid tried explainin’ one to me, somethin’ about a “Scary Movie” and it parodied somethin’ else… I don’t know, sounded like a whole lotta nonsense to me. Too much goin’ on, too many jokes I didn’t get. But hey, if the kids like it, that’s all that matters.
Collecting these horror movie Pop figures, it’s like a hobby, I guess. Folks go crazy for ’em. They got special ones, rare ones, ones that glow in the dark… Sounds like a lot of fuss over some plastic toys, but hey, folks gotta have their hobbies. Keeps ’em busy, keeps ’em outta trouble. Lord knows, there’s enough trouble in the world as it is.
One thing I will say, some of them Pops, they really do look like the characters. Like that one time my grandkid showed me a little fella with a creepy grin, from a movie called “Creep 2”. Said it was funnier than it was scary… I don’t know about that. Looked plain unnerving to me. But the details, they were right there. The crazy eyes, the weird smile… it was like a tiny little version of the movie monster. That’s some good work, I reckon.
So, yeah, these horror movie Pop figures, they’re a thing. Little plastic monsters, cute and creepy all at once. Kids love ’em, grown-ups love ’em… I still don’t quite get it, but if it makes folks happy, then I reckon it’s alright. Just don’t go fillin’ your whole house with ‘em, ya hear? You still gotta have room to walk around.
And that’s all I gotta say about that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. Biscuits and gravy tonight, if the Lord’s willin’ and the creek don’t rise.
