Alright, let’s talk about this Descendants Christian movie review, or whatever them youngsters call it. I watched it, ya know, kinda had to squint at the TV a bit, but I watched it.

First off, this ain’t no regular ol’ Bible story movie. No sir. It’s got princes and princesses, but they ain’t the kind you read about in Sunday school. These kids, they got some baggage, you hear? Their parents? Well, let’s just say they weren’t exactly saints. Big-time villains, some of ’em. So, the kids, they gotta figure out if they gonna be good or bad. That’s the whole shebang, I reckon.

Now, some folks are sayin’ this movie’s got good messages. Like, bein’ kind to others and stuff. And I guess that’s true. The kids, they try to be good, mostly. But there’s also some scary bits, you know? Fights and magic and whatnot. Not for the real little ones, I’d say. Maybe eight or ten and up, and even then, you might wanna sit with ’em.

  • Good stuff: It shows how even if your family ain’t perfect, you can still choose to be good. That’s important, I think. And it’s got singin’ and dancin’, which is always nice.
  • Not-so-good stuff: Like I said, the scary parts. And some of the parents in the movie? Mean as snakes. Yellin’ and puttin’ the kids down. Don’t need none of that.

They say this movie is part of some big Disney thing. I don’t know much about Disney, except they make them cartoons. But this ain’t no cartoon, not really. It’s got real people, well, actors playin’ real people, and they sing a lot. Sometimes too much singin’ if you ask me, but the young’uns seem to like it.

The story, it’s about this family, see? And they got problems. Big problems. Someone dies, and they gotta figure out how to deal with it. They ain’t a church-goin’ family, far as I can tell. But they learn about forgiveness and stickin’ together, which is kinda like what they teach in church, ain’t it?

One fella in the movie, he’s a lawyer, I think. Works all the time, don’t pay much attention to his kids. That ain’t right. Kids need their parents, you know? But he learns his lesson, I guess. Starts bein’ a better dad. That’s a good message, for sure.

I heard some folks sayin’ this movie ain’t exactly Christian, ’cause it ain’t straight from the Bible. And maybe it ain’t. But it ain’t bad, neither. It shows that even folks who make mistakes can change. And that’s somethin’ we all need to remember, Christian or not.

They also talk about this other movie about Mary, you know, Jesus’s mama. But this Descendants thing, it ain’t like that. It’s different. It’s got magic and princes and all that. But like I keep sayin’, it still got some good in it. You just gotta look for it.

So, would I recommend this movie to other Christians? Well, it depends. If you’re lookin’ for a straight-up Bible story, this ain’t it. But if you want a movie that’s got some good messages about family and forgiveness, then it might be worth a watch. Just be warned, it ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. There’s some darkness in there, too. Just like real life, I reckon.

Final thoughts? Well, it ain’t the worst movie I ever seen. And it sure ain’t the best. But it got me thinkin’ a bit, and that’s somethin’. Maybe them youngsters can learn a thing or two from it. And maybe us old folks can, too.

One more thing, they canceled some stuff when somebody named Cameron passed. Real sad. Makes you think about what’s important in life, you know? Family, friends, doin’ right by people. That’s what matters, in the end.
