Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about them movies, the ones like that Rocky Horror Picture Show. You know, the weird ones, the ones that make you scratch your head and say, “What in tarnation did I just watch?”
First off, that Rocky Horror thing, it’s a wild one. Singing and dancing and folks dressed up all strange. They say it’s a tribute to them old scary movies, the black and white ones from way back when. And if you ain’t never seen it with them people acting it out on stage at the same time as the movie, well, they call you a “virgin.” And they might mark you with a “V” and want you to do some silly stuff. But you don’t gotta do nothin’ you don’t want to, mind you.
Now, there’s other movies like it, kinda. Not exactly the same, but they got that same… whatchamacallit… that strange feelin’. One fella told me about a movie called Chopping Mall. Sounds like a horror show to me! He said somethin’ ’bout waitresses and butter, but I didn’t quite catch it. Probably just as crazy as that Rocky Horror.
Then there’s this Eraserhead movie. Made by some fella named David Lynch. Heard it’s real weird, real dark. Not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. Probably got all sorts of strange creatures and goings-on. Just the name sounds creepy, don’t it? Erasin’ heads… makes you shiver just thinkin’ about it.
Some folks call these movies “cult movies.” I ain’t sure what that means exactly, but I guess it means they got a bunch of folks who really, really like ’em. Like they watch ’em over and over again and know all the words and dress up like the characters. Kinda like them Rocky Horror folks. They say some of these movies, they didn’t do so good when they first came out in the theaters, but then folks found ’em later on and they became popular. Like that Halloween III movie, the one about the witches. I never seen it myself, but I heard tell it’s a spooky one.
- They got singin’ and dancin’.
- They got strange characters.
- They got stories that make you scratch your head.
- And they got folks who love ’em somethin’ fierce.
There’s this other movie, called Censor, I think. It’s about this lady who watches movies for a living, makin’ sure they ain’t too bad for folks to see. And then she sees one that reminds her of her sister who disappeared, and she goes off lookin’ for answers. Sounds kinda mysterious, don’t it? And a little bit sad, too.
And then you got them old monster movies, like King Kong and Day of the Triffids. Them ain’t exactly like Rocky Horror, but they got that same kinda… fantastical… thing goin’ on. Big apes and giant plants, all sorts of crazy stuff. They make you forget about your troubles for a while, that’s for sure.
So, if you like that Rocky Horror Picture Show, there’s plenty of other movies out there that might tickle your fancy. Some are scary, some are funny, some are just plain weird. But they all got that somethin’ special, that somethin’ that makes ’em… well, cult movies, I guess. Just gotta go out there and find ’em. And don’t be afraid to scratch your head a little. It’s part of the fun.
These movies, they ain’t for everyone. Some folks, they like their movies plain and simple, easy to understand. But if you like things a little bit different, a little bit… off-kilter… then these are the movies for you. They might make you laugh, they might make you scream, they might just make you say, “What the heck was that?” But they’ll definitely make you think. And that ain’t a bad thing, is it?
So go on, give ’em a try. You might just find your new favorite movie. And if you don’t like ’em, well, that’s alright too. More popcorn for me!
Remember, these movies ain’t for the faint of heart. They’re strange, they’re wild, and they’re definitely not for everyone. But if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ different, somethin’ a little bit… out there… then these are the movies for you. And who knows, you might just become one of them “cult” folks yourself, dressin’ up and singin’ along. Stranger things have happened, I reckon.
