Well, let me tell ya ’bout this movie, “Karaoke”. I ain’t no fancy movie critic, ya know? Just a regular person who likes to watch a good story. And this “Karaoke”, it’s somethin’ alright.

So, it’s about this old couple, been married forever, ya know, like those folks who stick together through thick and thin. They live in one of them big fancy buildings in the city, Tel Aviv, they call it. The husband, Meir, that’s his name, he’s played by this Sasson Gabay fella. I seen him in other things, he’s good. And the wife, Tova, played by Rita Shukrun, she’s a firecracker, that one.

Anyways, things get stirred up when this new neighbor moves in. Itsik, this young fella, played by Lior Ashkenazi. He’s all smooth and charming, the kind that makes you think, “hmmm, what’s he up to?” He’s got this worldly vibe, ya know? Like he’s seen things, been places. And this Itsik, he throws a karaoke party. That’s where the whole thing starts, I reckon.

  • Movie Name: Karaoke
  • Director:Moshe Rosenthal
  • Main Actors:Sasson Gabay, Lior Ashkenazi, Rita Shukrun
  • Genre: Comedy, somethin’ lighthearted, ya know?
  • Run Time: Little less than two hours, they say. 1 hour and 43 minutes, to be exact.

Now, this karaoke party, it ain’t just about singing silly songs. It’s like, it gets this couple, Meir and Tova, thinking ‘bout things. Their marriage, their life, ya know? Itsik, he kind of shakes things up. He’s got this charisma, this pull, that gets under their skin. Makes ’em look at each other different, maybe even look at themselves different.

The movie, it’s kinda funny, but it ain’t just laughs. It’s got some heart, too. You see this couple, been together so long, and you wonder, what’s keepin’ ‘em together? Is it love? Is it habit? Is it somethin’ else? And this Itsik, he comes along, and it’s like he holds up a mirror to them. They gotta face some truths, ya know?

I ain’t gonna spoil it for ya, tell you everything that happens. But I will say this: it makes you think about relationships, about getting older, about how people can change, or maybe not change at all. It’s about how someone new can come into your life and turn everything upside down, even if you didn’t think you needed anything to be turned upside down.

What I liked? Well, I liked the actors. They felt real, ya know? Like you could meet these folks on the street. And the story, it kept me interested. I wanted to see what was gonna happen next. Plus, who doesn’t love a good karaoke scene? Even if I can’t carry a tune in a bucket myself.

What I didn’t like? Hmm, not much really. Maybe it dragged a little in the middle, but not too bad. And some of them fancy city folks, they act a bit strange, but that’s just how they are, I guess.

Folks are sayin’ you can watch this “Karaoke” movie online. They got it on Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, all them fancy streaming things. I ain’t too tech-savvy myself, but my grandkids, they know all about it. They say you can even watch it in 4K, whatever that is. Sounds fancy, huh?

So, should you watch “Karaoke”? Well, if you like a good story with some laughs and some heart, then I say go for it. It ain’t no action movie, ya know? No shootin’ and car chases. But it’s got somethin’ to say about people, and that’s what I like in a movie. It makes ya think, makes ya feel, and maybe even makes ya wanna sing a little karaoke yourself. Just don’t expect me to join ya, I’d scare the birds away!

Overall, I’d give it a thumbs up. It’s a good movie, plain and simple. Not perfect, but what is these days? Go watch it, and you tell me what ya think. Maybe we can chat about it over a cup of coffee sometime. But you gotta bring the coffee, cause I ain’t got none of that fancy stuff here.

So yeah, that’s my review of “Karaoke“. Hope it helps ya decide if you wanna watch it. And if you do, tell me what you think. I’m always up for hearing a good story, especially if it’s ‘bout movies. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about karaoke and movies is makin’ me hungry!
