Animated Family Comedy ‘Goldbeak’ Trailer Following a Little Eagle

“I won’t standby and let them take everything from us!” Lionsgate has revealed an official US trailer for an animated adventure comedy called Goldbeak, which is getting a direct-to-VOD release in January 2025. It first debuted in China back in 2021, created as a Chinese co-production with filmmakers Nigel W. Tierney & Dong Long. All these years later and it’s just now getting a US release. After a little eagle named Goldbeak loses his parents, a kindhearted family of chickens adopts him as one of their own. A young eagle raised by chickens leaves home to find his true identity. After discovering his relatives and new life purpose in the Bird Sanctuary’s Feathered Patrol, he remains unaware of an emerging sinister plot in the nearby big city. Featuring the voices of David Henrie & Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter. Aside from the obvious Angry Birds comparisons, the animation looks really rough & rudimentary. But it’s mainly meant for kids to enjoy.

Goldbeak, originally called Eagles & Chickens (老鹰抓小鸡 in Mandarin), is an animated movie co-directed by filmmakers Nigel W. Tierney & Dong Long, both directing their first feature. The screenplay is written by Robert N. Skir, Jeff Sloniker, and Vivian Yoon. Produced by Nigel W. Tierney. Made by Liang Zi Film and Tierney Corp Productions. This originally opened in China already back in 2021. Lionsgate will debut the final English-language version of Goldbeak direct-to-VOD in the US starting on January 28th, 2025 coming soon.
