Film in Mouth Sensation: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

Film in Mouth: What Is It and How to Deal with It?

You know, sometimes I wake up and my mouth feels… weird. Like there’s somethin’ in there that shouldn’t be. A kinda sticky, yucky film. Makes me wanna gag, ya know? It’s like when you don’t wash your pots good enough and stuff sticks. Ugh!

So, I asked around and people told me different things. Some say it’s just ’cause I’m gettin’ old. Well, I ain’t that old! But I guess things dry up as you get on, like a prune in the sun. They say some medicines can do it too. Lord knows I take a handful of pills every day for this and that. Achin’ joints, pressure in my head, you name it. Maybe one of them pills is dryin’ me out like a desert.

Then there’s this thing called “oral thrush.” Sounds nasty, right? Like somethin’ a bird would get. They say it’s a white, sticky film. Yep, sounds like what I got alright. I ain’t no doctor, but I reckon that’s what’s goin’ on. They say it’s important to get rid of it quick, but how the heck do you do that?

  • Keepin’ Your Mouth Wet: Seems like dry mouth is a big problem. So, I started drinkin’ more water. I carry a bottle with me everywhere now, like a baby with its bottle. It helps, I think. My mouth don’t feel like sandpaper as much.
  • Cleanin’ Your Mouth Good: I always brushed my teeth, but now I’m payin’ more attention. Brushing my tongue too, gettin’ all that gunk off. It’s like scrubbin’ the floor, gotta get in all the corners. And I rinse my mouth out more, especially after eatin’. Gets rid of the bits and pieces.
  • Watchin’ What You Eat: Sugar is bad, they say. Feeds the nasty stuff in your mouth. So, I’m cuttin’ back on the sweets. No more candy every night, sadly. I eat more veggies now, which is good for me anyways. Gotta keep this old body runnin’ somehow.

Another thing they told me about is somethin’ called “oral lichen planus.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? They say it makes white patches in your mouth, kinda like lacy threads. I ain’t seen nothin’ like that, thank the Lord. But it’s good to know, just in case. They say some medicines can cause it too, so maybe it’s another thing to ask the doctor about. It’s like a puzzle, tryin’ to figure out what’s wrong with ya.

And then there’s “stomatitis.” That’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Basically, it means your mouth is sore and inflamed. They say cold sores and canker sores are part of it. I get those sometimes, little blisters that hurt like the dickens. They say infections can cause it, or even if you hurt your mouth somehow. Like if you bite your cheek or somethin’. I try to be careful, but sometimes things just happen. It’s like life, always throwin’ somethin’ at ya.

Film in Mouth Sensation: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

So, what do you do if you got this film in your mouth? Well, first thing is, don’t panic. It ain’t the end of the world. See a doctor, that’s what I say. They know more than I do, that’s for sure. They can tell you what’s really goin’ on and give you somethin’ to help. In the meantime, keepin’ your mouth clean and wet is a good start. And watch what you eat. It’s all common sense, really.

It’s like takin’ care of a garden. You gotta water it, weed it, and keep the bugs away. Your mouth is the same way. Gotta keep it clean, keep it moist, and keep the bad stuff out. It ain’t always easy, but it’s worth it. Nobody wants a mouth full of yuck, that’s for sure. And a healthy mouth means a healthier you. That’s what I figure, anyways.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go drink some water. My mouth’s feelin’ kinda dry again.
