Oh boy, let me tell you about these horror movie women’s costumes. You see them girls on the screen, all dressed up, sometimes scary, sometimes just plain weird. I seen a lot of things in my days, but these costumes, they somethin’ else.
Halloween is coming, you know that time of year when the young’uns run around like crazy fools. They dress up like them horror movie characters and try to scare each other. I tell you, some of them costumes are a sight to behold. I remember one time, my granddaughter, bless her heart, she wanted to be some scary doll. You should have seen that thing! They sell the horror costumes for the girls. Lord, help us.
There’s this one movie, with that fella in the mask, you know the one, always carryin’ a big knife. Well, they got costumes for that one. You can dress up like him, or like the girls he’s always chasin’. Makes no sense to me, why a girl would wanna dress up like that, but hey, to each their own, I reckon. They want to scare folks in those horror costumes, I suppose.
- That Ghostface one, that’s popular.
- There is a doll, that Chucky one, that is scary.
- And them twins, from that shiny movie, also scary.
Then there’s that other one, with the little girl, all possessed and such. Her head spins around, and she says all sorts of nasty things. They got costumes for her too. Little girls walkin’ around lookin’ like they crawled outta a ditch. It’s a fright, I tell ya. I don’t know why the girls pick the horror costumes but I guess it is fun for them.
And don’t even get me started on them zombie costumes. Walkin’ around like they’re half dead, with all that fake blood and such. Makes my stomach turn, it does. But the young folks, they love it. They buy the women’s costumes for the horror movie look. Go figure.
Now, back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy horror movie costumes. We made our own, out of whatever we could find. A sheet with some holes cut out for eyes, that was a ghost. An old dress turned inside out, that was a witch. Simple, but effective. We didn’t need no fancy store-bought stuff to have a good scare. The girls liked to be scary back then, too. Just simpler horror costumes.
But these days, they got costumes for everything. You can be a vampire, a werewolf, a mummy, you name it. And they ain’t cheap, neither. I saw the price tag on one of them horror movie women’s costumes the other day, nearly fainted. Who spends that kind of money on somethin’ you only wear once a year? It is crazy.
I seen this one costume, supposed to be some kind of evil queen, I think. All black and purple, with a big crown. Looked like somethin’ out of a fairy tale, but the scary kind, you know? I guess some girls like that sort of thing. Me, I prefer somethin’ a little more cheerful. Maybe the horror costumes are too scary for me.

But hey, if that’s what they want, who am I to judge? As long as they’re havin’ fun, that’s all that matters, right? Just as long as they don’t try to scare me with them horror movie women’s costumes. I’ve had enough scares in my life, thank you very much. I seen enough to know the horror costumes are not for me.
I remember one time, a bunch of kids came trick-or-treatin’ at my door, all dressed up in their scary costumes. One little girl, she was dressed as a witch, with a pointy hat and a big wart on her nose. She cackled like a real witch, too. Gave me the chills, it did. The girls pick some scary horror costumes these days.
Another one was dressed as a vampire, with pale skin and fangs. He kept hissin’ at everyone. And there was one, dressed as a skeleton, just bones and a skull mask. They were all tryin’ to out-scare each other. It was a sight, I tell ya. These horror costumes are somethin’ else.
Now, I don’t know much about this whole “gaming” thing, but I hear they got costumes for that too. Video gaming, they call it. You can dress up like your favorite character from a game. Sounds silly to me, but I guess it is popular with the horror movie folks. I don’t know why girls would want to wear the horror costumes from the gaming movies. They just do, I guess.
I saw a girl dressed as a princess once, but not a regular princess. She had a sword and armor and looked like she was ready for a fight. Said she was from some game or other. These gaming movies are popular with the girls, too. I guess horror costumes are not the only thing they like.
So, there you have it. These horror movie women’s costumes, they’re somethin’ else. Scary, weird, and sometimes just plain silly. But the young folks love ’em, and that’s all that matters. As long as they’re havin’ fun and not scarin’ the old folks, it’s all good, I reckon. Just keep them away from me, that’s all I ask. I’m too old for all that horror movie stuff. These horror costumes are too much for me!
