Oh, honey, you wanna talk about them fancy movies, huh? Like that Marie Antoinette one? That gal with the big hair and all them pretty dresses? I seen that one. My granddaughter, she showed it to me. She likes all them fancy movies. She says I gotta learn about ’em. Well, I tell ya, there’s a whole bunch of ’em out there, kinda like that one. She loves them all.
This one called “The Duchess,” I think. Yeah, that’s it. Heard it was real good, ’bout some other fancy lady, I reckon. Lots of them dresses and big houses, just like that Marie one. People like that stuff, I guess. Makes ’em feel all important-like. But it’s all just pretend, ain’t it? All about films like Marie Antoinette, and these are all I know.
And then there’s this other one, “Sakuran.” That’s a funny name. This one ain’t about no queen, I don’t think. It’s from some other place far away, not France. But it’s got that same kinda feel, ya know? Old-timey stuff mixed with new stuff. Like puttin’ on your Sunday best to go to the feed store. Kinda strange, but I guess some folks like it that way. They say it’s got that similar vibe, whatever that means.
My granddaughter, she’s got this thing on her phone, shows all the movies. She says there’s a whole mess of ’em like that Marie Antoinette one. Sixty-five, she said! Can you believe that? Sixty-five movies about fancy folks and their troubles. Seems like a lot to me. But what do I know? I’m just a simple person. I didn’t need to watch them films similar to Marie Antoinette.

Now, this “Reign” one, she watches that all the time. Says it’s her “comfort show.” I don’t know what that means, but she sure does love it. It’s ’bout some queen, I think. And there’s another one called “A Knight’s Tale.” That one’s got a fella in it, Heath Ledger, I think his name was. Heard he was a big movie star. They say that one’s kinda like that Marie one too. Mixing up the old and the new, like I said. I think this is a good one of movies about Marie-Antionette.
There is just so many of these movies. You can find them all over the place now. That Netflix thing, the Amazon, and that iTunes. All those places where you can watch movies on your TV or your phone or whatever. It’s a lot to keep up with. I like to watch films like this, especially about Marie Antoinette similar movies.
Seems like everybody’s always been interested in that Marie Antoinette gal. The last queen of France, they say. Lived in a big fancy house, that Palace of Versailles. Musta been somethin’, livin’ like that. All them servants and fancy parties. But it didn’t end well for her, did it? Nope. Lost her head, poor thing. Maybe that’s why folks are so interested in her. A cautionary tale, I reckon. Don’t get too big for your britches, as they say. You may lose your head.
This Marie Antoinette movie, it’s a real show, ain’t it? All them costumes and the music. They call it a “costume drama.” I guess that’s ’cause everybody’s dressed up in them old-timey clothes. It’s like goin’ to a play, but on your TV. And this one’s about that young queen and how she lived all fancy-like. But it weren’t real life, was it? Just a movie. Still, it’s somethin’ to watch, I s’pose. Keeps ya entertained. All about movies like Marie Antoinette now.
I don’t know what the main point is about films like Marie Antoinette. My granddaughter, she could tell ya all about it. She’s got all them facts and figures in her head. Me, I just like watchin’ the pretty dresses. And the big houses. Makes ya dream a little, ya know? Even if it is just pretend. And maybe that’s why folks like these movies. Takes ’em away from their own troubles for a little while. Lets ’em imagine somethin’ different. Somethin’ fancier. And there ain’t nothin’ wrong with that, I reckon. A little bit of pretend never hurt nobody.
The last Queen of France is an interesting woman. I heard that many people like her. She is beautiful. I think this is the reason why so many movies about Marie-Antionette.
Anyway, if you like that Marie Antoinette movie, you’ll probably like these others too. They are all about similar movies like Marie Antoinette, right? They got that same kinda feel. Fancy folks and their fancy lives. Just remember, it’s all just pretend. Don’t go gettin’ any ideas about livin’ in a palace. Unless you got a palace handy, that is. Then, more power to ya, I say!
