You know, this here Indiana film jobs, it ain’t like pickin’ beans. It’s a whole other thing. I heard there’s a whole bunch of folks lookin’ for work in them Indiana pictures. Some say there’s like 735 film jobs in Indiana. That’s a lot of mouths to feed!

And down in that Indianapolis, they got all kinds of work. They say there are at least 6 film jobs there, but seems like there should be more. You need folks to do this and that, right? Hold the lights, fix the hair, bring the coffee. I heard they got jobs like Videographer, Videographer/editor and Runner. I don’t know what them do, but it sounds fancy, don’t it?

Now, my grandson, he’s all into this computer stuff. He says there’s film production jobs. What’s that? I reckon it’s makin’ them movies and editin’ them. They make them picture shows and them things on the computer, you know, for the TV and such. Sounds like a lot of button pushin’ to me. He told me there is like 158 Film Production jobs in Indiana, well, that’s what the young folks like.

They say gettin’ one of these jobs is harder than findin’ a needle in a haystack. Lots of people want ’em. You gotta fill out them papers online, and hope someone sees ’em. I hear there are like 50,000 film students graduate every year! It’s like everybody and their brother wants to be in the movies! And only a few get picked.

If you want one of them jobs, you better know somebody, or get lucky. There’s some tips folks say you should do. Like:

  • Go to school, learn somethin’ about makin’ them picture shows.
  • Meet people, talk to folks, get your name out there.
  • Try out for parts, even the small ones. You gotta start somewhere, they say.
  • Don’t give up, keep tryin’.

I seen them actors on TV, and they make it look easy. But I bet it ain’t. They gotta go to school for that actin’ stuff. They go to them drama schools or theater programs in college, learn how to talk fancy and pretend to be someone else. It’s all a big show, ain’t it?

This film industry, it’s a tough one, they say. Like a big ol’ field of corn, but only a few good ears. You gotta be ready to work hard, and maybe you’ll get lucky.

Said it was harder than pullin’ teeth. He filled out a bunch of them forms online, and never heard a peep. They say there are too many people wantin’ them jobs, and only so many to go around.

Here’s what I think you gotta do:

  • Be ready to work: This ain’t no sit-down job. You’ll be on your feet, movin’ around, doin’ what they tell ya.
  • Know your stuff: If you say you can do somethin’, you better be able to do it. They ain’t got time to teach you everything.
  • Don’t be afraid to start small: You might not be the star of the show, but you gotta start somewhere. Even if it’s just gettin’ coffee, do it with a smile.
  • Be nice to folks: People like to work with folks who are nice. It’s just that simple.

This whole Indiana film jobs thing is a big deal. It brings money to the state, and that’s good for everyone. More money means more jobs, and more jobs means more food on the table. So, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ into the movie business, I say go for it. Just be prepared to work hard, and don’t expect to be famous overnight.

It ain’t like the old days. Used to be, you could just walk onto a farm and get a job. Now, you gotta have all them skills and know-how. But I reckon that’s just the way the world is now. Everything’s gettin’ more complicated.

I still think it’s all a bit silly, though. All that fuss for a picture show. But, hey, if it makes folks happy, and it puts food on the table, then I guess it ain’t so bad. I just hope them young folks know what they’re gettin’ into. It ain’t all glamour and lights, you know. It’s hard work, just like anything else.
