This year, 2024, I heard them young folks talking ’bout some “polskie filmy na netflix”, whatever that means. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? I reckon it’s some kinda fancy way of sayin’ them Polish movies on that Netflix thingamajig. My grandkids, they’re always glued to that screen, watchin’ all sorts of things. They tried to show me once, but I couldn’t make heads or tails of it. Too many buttons, too much goin’ on.

But they kept going on about these Polish movies, sayin’ they was real good. They said there were all kinds: some funny, some sad, some scary. I asked them what they were about, they just said “stuff”. Kids these days, never give you a straight answer. So, I thought I’d snoop around a bit, see what all the fuss is about. They showed me how to use that Google thing. You type in what you want, and it shows you a whole bunch of things. It’s like magic, but not the good kind, like rain after a long dry spell. This is more like the confusing kind that makes your head spin.

So, I typed in that “polskie filmy na netflix 2024” and, boy, did a lot of things pop up! Lots of lists and pictures. I saw one that said “Top 10” and I figured that must be the good ones, right? Like pickin’ the best apples from the bushel. You always want the top ones, the ones that ain’t bruised or wormy. So maybe these top 10 Polish movies are the best ones to watch. I don’t know nothin about Poland, except it is real far and has lots of snow. Maybe the movies show a lot of that.

I saw another one that said somethin’ ’bout “laugh, cry, scream”. Sounds like a whole lotta hoopla to me. I reckon these Netflix movies got everything in ’em, just like life, I guess. Some days you laugh, some days you cry, some days you just wanna scream at the crows for eatin’ your corn. That is life, you know. Maybe these movies will show some of that real life stuff, the good and the bad. I saw one movie called “Hellhole”, I think. Maybe it is about some bad place, maybe it is scary.

My grandkids, they like them scary movies. They say it gives ’em a thrill. I don’t get it. Life’s got enough thrills without watchin’ made-up ones. Like that time the bull got loose and chased old man Johnson up a tree. Now that was a thrill. And a real one, too. But they said these Polish movies on Netflix got all kinds of thrills. They got mysteries, they got love stories, they got action. You know, like them old westerns, but with Polish people instead of cowboys.

  • Maybe some of them movies got cowboys, too. I don’t know.
  • Maybe they got horses. I like horses.
  • Maybe they got stories ’bout families, ’cause family’s important, even in Poland, I reckon.

I also saw that there are Polish shows on Netflix, too. Not just movies, but shows. Like them soap operas my neighbor used to watch, but probably different. My grandkids said that these shows are like long movies, that go on and on, many parts, you know? You watch one part, then you gotta wait for the next one. I don’t know if I got the patience for that. I like things to be over and done with, like plantin’ season or harvest time. You do it, it’s done, you move on.

They mentioned one called “Hellhole“, said it was real scary. I don’t know if I wanna watch somethin’ called “Hellhole”. Sounds kinda unpleasant, don’t it? Like fallin’ into a pit full of snakes. But they said it was popular, lots of people watchin’ it. Maybe it’s like that time everyone was talkin’ ’bout that newfangled disease, and everyone was scared, but they still wanted to know all about it. Curiosity killed the cat, they say. But maybe it just makes the cat watch scary Polish movies on Netflix.

Anyway, there are a whole lot of them Polish movies and shows on Netflix in 2024. I saw one that had a list, said “updated March 15th”. So, they keep adding new ones, I guess. It is hard to keep up with all of that. Like tryin’ to catch a greased pig at the county fair. Just when you think you got it, it slips right through your fingers. But maybe that’s a good thing. Always somethin’ new to see, somethin’ new to talk about.

I still don’t know if I’ll watch any of these polskie filmy. But it’s kinda interestin’ to know they’re there. Like a whole ‘nother world, right there on that little screen. A world with different people, different stories, different everything. Maybe it is not so bad to peek into that world. Maybe one day, I’ll get one of them grandkids to sit down with me and show me how it all works. Maybe we’ll even watch one of them top Polish movies together. Who knows? Maybe I’ll even like it. Or maybe I’ll just fall asleep. That old rocking chair does have a way of lulling you to sleep, no matter what’s on that screen. Old age is not for the weak, you know?
