Best horror movies always got young people doing dumb things. Anyway, this one, it was called, uh… “The Evil Dead,” I think. And let me tell you, that woods was alive! Trees grabbin’ at folks, vines tryin’ to choke ’em. Scared the bejeezus outta me. This is one of the best camp horror movies. That was a good one… for a scare, that is. Not good for sleepin’ sound, though.
Then there was another one, somethin’ about a camp, where the kids, they started disappearin’ one by one. They go to watch movies about camps, that’s what they get. Creepy fella in a mask, if I remember right. He was out there in the woods, just waitin’. Had an axe, maybe? Or a machete? One of them big ol’ knives. Made my skin crawl, just thinkin’ about it. I reckon a lot of folks like that one, too. They call it a “classic.” I call it a nightmare. It’s a good camp horror movie.
And you know, they always got that one fella, the goofy one. Always makin’ jokes, even when things get bad. He never lasts long, that one. Nope. Then there’s the girl, the smart one. She usually makes it out… usually. Sometimes they all die, though. Depends on the movie, I guess. There are so many good horror movies, it is hard to talk about them all.

- And the one with the old, abandoned summer camp. Why they go back there, I’ll never know.

But it ain’t got the same… I don’t know… the same feel as the old ones. The old ones, they were just plain scary. Simple, but scary.
There’s gonna be some new scary movies in 2024, too. I seen the previews. “Night Swim”, “Imaginary” they call them. They look pretty spooky, I guess. Got some young folks in ’em, lookin’ scared. Same old, same old. But maybe they’ll be good. You never know. If you like scary movies, maybe you will like these new ones, too. They say it’s gonna be good horror movies.
They always try to make ’em scarier, though. More blood, more guts. I don’t need all that. Just a good story, a dark woods, and somethin’ creepy lurkin’ out there… that’s all ya need. That’s a good horror movie right there. That’s a camp horror movie, the best kind.
