You know what, these days, folks talkin’ ’bout movie art books. What’s that? I seen some in town, all colorful and shiny. Pictures, they got lots of pictures. Pictures from them movies, you know. Like them pictures on the wall, but in a book. Fancy, huh?
This whole movie art book thing, it’s like them comic books, but not really. More pictures, less words. Good for lookin’, I guess. They even got them for grown up movies. My neighbor, she got one about some monster movie. Big pictures, scary stuff. I prefer the flower ones, myself.
They say it’s like collectin’ something. People like to collect all sorts of junk. Stamps, coins, them little spoons. Now it’s movie art books. They say each book is special, shows the work people do for the movies. Like drawin’ pictures, makin’ costumes, buildin’ things.
Startin’ a collection, they call it. Well, if you into that, you do you. First, gotta pick what you like. Like them romance movies, or them shoot-em-up ones. Then you find the movie art book for it. Some are big, some are small. Some got lots of colors, some just black and white. And they got all kinds of books these days. Books about drawing, books about painting, books about making things with your hands. If you want to learn to draw, there are books for that. If you want to make pretty colors, there are books for that, too.

- Look at the pictures.
- That’s it.
They even got books about how to make your own art. They say everyone’s an artist. I guess that’s true. It’s like, these books show you how people make the pictures for movies, and some people get ideas from them. Like, they see a pretty dress in a movie, and then they try to make their own. Or they see a cool monster, and they try to draw it. It’s like copying, but not really. It’s like learning, I guess. Those art books can show you how to be a better artist, even if you’re just drawing in your notebook.
These movie art books, they ain’t cheap. Some cost more than others. Depends on how fancy they are, I guess. Like them ones with the hard covers, they cost more. And the ones with the really shiny paper, them too. It’s like they’re made special, so they cost more. You have to keep count on how many pages there are. Some pages count more than others.
Where do you get ’em? Well, they got stores for that. Big stores, small stores. Even that place where you get your groceries, they might have some. But if you want the good ones, the special ones, you gotta go to the special stores.
Some people, they get these movie art books and they don’t even open ’em. They just put ’em on a shelf. Like trophies, or somethin’. I guess that’s okay. If you like lookin’ at ’em, that’s fine. Me, I like to flip through ’em. See the pictures. Maybe read a word or two.
These movie art books, they’re somethin’ else. Never thought I’d see the day when people collect books about movies. But there you go. World’s always changin’. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go water my plants. They ain’t as fancy as them movie pictures, but they’re real. And they make me happy. That’s what matters, right? Bein’ happy. So, if these books make you happy, then you get ’em. You do you. That’s what I always say.
It’s like, some people like to read, some people like to watch TV, and some people like to look at pretty pictures in books. And these movie art books, they’re just another way to enjoy the things you like. It doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated. It just has to be something you like. It just takes one book to start. You pick a movie you like, find a book about it, and there you go. You’re a collector now.
But don’t forget, there are other books, too. Books about all sorts of things. Books about history, books about animals, books about cooking. You name it, there’s a book about it. So if you like to learn new things, or if you just like to look at pretty pictures, there’s a book out there for you. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll find a movie art book that you really like, and you’ll start your own collection. You never know. And remember, it’s okay to like what you like, even if it’s a little different.
Back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy books. We had stories, passed down from generation to generation. But times change, and now we have all these books, full of pictures and stories and ideas. It’s a whole new world, I tell ya. But some things stay the same. Like the joy of a good story, or the beauty of a well-made picture. Those things never get old, no matter how many fancy movie art books they make.
So, you go on and find yourself a movie art book. Or any book, really. Just find something that makes you happy, and enjoy it. That’s the best advice this old gal can give ya.
