Well, let me tell you, figuring out these movie times in New Haven ain’t as easy as pie. Back in my day, you just went down to the picture show and saw what was playing. Now, you gotta mess with these computers and whatnot. But I reckon I’ve got it figured out, more or less.
Figuring Out the Movie Times
First thing you gotta know is what picture you wanna see. There’s that new one, Buy Here, that’s coming out. It ain’t out yet, but they got the showtimes for it in 2024. Sounds like a hoot. Then there are all sorts of other ones. You got your action, your scary, your lovey-dovey, all of it. It’s enough to make your head spin, I tell ya.
Now, they got these things called “apps” on your phone. You can use them to find the movie times. This one, called Atom, seems to be the ticket, no pun intended. They say it lets you buy your ticket right there on your phone and you don’t have to wait in no line. That sounds mighty fine to me. Standing in line is for the birds.
What’s Playing in New Haven
- That Buy Here movie, coming soon in 2024.
- All them other movies, too many to name.
- They even got those old movies on DVD, if you got one of them DVD players.
This here place, BTM Criterion Cinemas, it’s right near that Yale place. You know, where all them smart kids go to school. They got nine whole screens there, so you got plenty to choose from. They call it a “thrilling experience.” I reckon it is if you like that sort of thing.
They got all these fancy words for the different kinds of movies. “Genres” and “subgenres” and whatnot. And “moods” and “themes.” Back in my day, a movie was a movie. You either liked it or you didn’t. Now they got it all divided up into little boxes. It’s like sorting your beans before you cook ’em.
Getting Your Tickets
So you can get your tickets on that Atom app, or you can go right down to the BTM Criterion Cinemas and get ’em there. I guess you can also use something called Fandango. You get something called “double rewards”. I don’t know what that is, but it sounds good. Double is always better than single, right?
You can also look up movie times in New Haven on the internet. There’s a whole bunch of websites that will tell you what’s playing and when. They got these things called “reviews” where folks tell you if the movie is any good. It can be useful, but sometimes it is better to make up your own mind.
They got one of these movie places in Louisiana, too, I hear. First one in America, they say. Opened back in 1896, if you can believe it. That’s a long time ago. Back then, they didn’t have no fancy apps or nothing. You just went to the show and hoped for the best.
What Else You Need to Know
These websites, they let you make lists of movies you wanna see. You can keep track of what you’ve already seen, too. That’s helpful, I reckon, ’cause sometimes you forget. Especially when you get to be my age.
You can also find out what movies are “coming soon.” That’s like a sneak peek of what’s gonna be playing later on. It’s like knowing what’s gonna be on the menu at the church potluck before everyone else.
And you can even look up movie trailers. Those are like little snippets of the movie, to give you a taste of what it’s like. It’s like getting a free sample at the grocery store. You get a little bite before you decide to buy the whole thing.
There was this one movie, Dune, I think it was called. They made a second one, and folks say it’s even better than the first. That don’t happen too often. Usually, the first one is the best, and the second one is just trying to cash in. But sometimes, they surprise you.
Well, I reckon that’s about all I know about movie times in New Haven. It’s a lot more complicated than it used to be, but I guess that’s just the way things are now. You gotta keep up with the times, even if it makes your head spin a little. Just remember to get your tickets, pick a good movie, and enjoy the show. And don’t forget the popcorn. That’s the best part.
