Film Analysis Worksheet: A Beginners Best Friend for Movie Reviews!

Today, I wanted to do something a bit different, so I decided to create a film analysis worksheet. I thought it would be a fun and useful tool to help me dig deeper into the movies I watch. So, let’s dive right into how I did it!

First, I spent some time thinking about what kind of information I wanted to capture. I started by creating a space for the basics like the movie title, director, and release year. That seemed like a good starting point.

Then, I wanted to include a section to write down my thoughts about the plot. I made sure to have enough space to write a brief summary and also jot down any interesting twists or turns. Next, I thought about the characters. I wanted to analyze them properly, so I added a section where I could describe each main character and their role in the film. I even added some space to note down my thoughts on the actors’ performances.

I also considered the technical aspects of the movie. I added sections for cinematography, sound, and editing. I wanted to note down any interesting camera angles, lighting techniques, or special effects that caught my eye. For the sound section, I made sure to have space to write about the music, sound effects, and overall audio experience. And for editing, I added a spot to jot down notes about the pacing and flow of the film.

After that, I thought about the overall message or themes of the film. I added a section where I could analyze what the movie was trying to convey and whether it succeeded in doing so. I also wanted to capture my personal opinion, so I added a space to write down my overall thoughts and whether I enjoyed the film or not.

Finally, I added a little rating system at the end. I thought it would be fun to give the movie a score out of 10 and maybe even compare it with other films I’ve watched. So, I created a simple scale and added it to the bottom of the worksheet.
