Okay, so, I saw this thing online the other day about Netflix giving a ton of money to Kamala Harris, and I was like, “What’s going on here?” I gotta know if this is true, so I did some digging. Here’s what I did.

First, I went straight to my computer and started searching for anything about Netflix and Kamala Harris. I typed in “Netflix donation to Kamala Harris” and a bunch of stuff popped up, mainly posts from places like Facebook, X, and TikTok. They were all saying Netflix gave her like $7 million. Crazy, right?

I read through a few of these posts. One of them, I remember, was all, “Netflix just donated $7 million to Kamala, BYE BYE Netflix! Cancel your subscription today,” They made it sound super dramatic.

  • So I went and checked out each of those social media posts one by one. I clicked around, read the comments, and looked for any actual proof.
  • Most of these posts didn’t have any real evidence. It was just people sharing the same claim without any links or sources.

Then, I looked for articles from news sites, you know, the ones that usually report on this kind of stuff. I found a few that talked about the viral posts and how they were saying Netflix was one of Harris’s big donors.

Turns out, most of these articles said the whole thing was totally made up. I read one that specifically pointed out that Netflix didn’t donate any money to Kamala Harris’s campaign. I read that and was like, “Okay, that makes more sense.” They mentioned that there are these things called FEC, which you know, track all this money stuff in politics, and there was nothing there about Netflix.

I also found out it was actually this guy, Reed Hastings, I think that’s how you say his name, who gave money, not Netflix the company. It was the founder, but he gave his own money. I dug a bit more into Reed Hastings and saw he’s given to political campaigns before, but this time it wasn’t Netflix itself.

Secret Netflix Codes

And guess what else I found while I was looking into Netflix? Secret codes! I found these codes that let you find specific kinds of movies and shows. You type them into the search bar or add them to the end of the URL, like */browse/genre/ and then the code. I tried it out with a code for Hindi movies, and it worked. It pulled up a whole bunch of Hindi-language movies from Bollywood to Hollywood. Pretty cool, huh?

Oh, and there’s this one show I found, “Behind Every Star.” It’s about these agents at a talent place. Looks like it’s got some drama and office politics. I haven’t watched it yet, but it sounds interesting. And there’s another one called “Watch Two” I saw on the Netflix site. Might check that out later.

Anyway, it was a wild ride checking all this out. Just goes to show you can’t believe everything you see online. Turns out Netflix didn’t donate to Kamala, it was just a big misunderstanding. But hey, at least I found those secret codes, so that’s a win!
