Okay, so the other day, I had this idea to write a movie script for the new year. It sounded like fun, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” So, I started by thinking about what makes a good New Year’s movie. I figured it should be something that captures the spirit of the holiday, you know? A mix of funny moments and some heartwarming stuff.
First, I just let my mind wander. I thought about all the New Year’s Eves I’ve had, the good and the bad. I remembered some funny quotes from movies about New Year’s and tried to think of some of my own. This was actually pretty fun. I was just jotting down whatever came to mind, no pressure.
Then, I started to put some structure to it. I read somewhere that you should start with a logline, which is basically a one-sentence summary of your movie. It’s supposed to hook people in. So, I spent some time trying to come up with a catchy logline. Mine was about a group of friends who make a crazy New Year’s resolution. It’s still a work in progress, but it’s a start.
- Wrote down some ideas for characters. I thought about people I know and tried to mix and match their personalities.
- Outlined a basic plot. Nothing too detailed, just the main events I wanted to happen in the story.
- Started writing some scenes. This was the most fun part. I just let the characters talk and tried to make it sound natural.
I also did some reading online about how to write a movie script. There’s a lot of information out there, which is great. But honestly, the best advice I found was just to write. It doesn’t have to be perfect at first. The important thing is to get your ideas down on paper.
Keep Writing and Revising
Of course, I hit some roadblocks. Sometimes I got stuck and didn’t know what to write next. When that happened, I just took a break and came back to it later. Or, I’d skip ahead and write a different scene. The important thing was to keep the momentum going.
So, that’s where I’m at now. I’ve got a bunch of scenes written, and I’m slowly putting them together into a full script. It’s a lot of work, but it’s also really rewarding. I’m learning a lot about storytelling and about myself in the process.
I’m not sure if this script will ever become a real movie. But honestly, that’s not really the point. The point is that I’m doing something creative, challenging myself, and having fun. And who knows, maybe this is just the first step in a whole new adventure. Happy New Year, everyone!
