Okay, so, I was looking for something to do last weekend, you know, just to get out of the house. I thought, “Why not catch a movie?” But I didn’t want to drive all the way into the city. I live in New Castle, DE, and I wanted to find something local. So I started my quest to find movie showtimes in my little town.
First, I pulled out my phone and started searching. I tried a bunch of different websites. I typed in things like “movie showtimes New Castle DE” and “movies near 19720”. You know, the usual stuff you’d search for when you’re trying to find a movie nearby.
Some of the websites I found were kinda clunky, hard to navigate. But a few of them were pretty good. One of them, called Fandango, kept popping up. It seemed to have the most up-to-date information. Another site, Moviefone, looked promising, but it said their app was “coming soon,” which wasn’t super helpful at the moment. I found another website, I forgot the name, and I tried to search on it, but there was nothing about the movies for that day, only for a long time after that date.
- Cinemark Christiana and XD seemed to be the big one around here.
- Cinemark Movies 10 was another option, a bit further away.
- There was also Penn Cinema – Wilmington, which was even further, but still doable.
- And then a couple of smaller places, The Screening Room at 1313 and Theatre N, which seemed more like independent theaters.
- There was one more called Playhouse Theatre
I read some reviews for a few of these places. Some people complained about the prices, but I mean, movies are expensive everywhere these days. I saw that movie ticket prices have gone up like crazy over the past few years. They were saying that in 2022, the average price was over 10 bucks! Inflation, right?
Anyway, I ended up going to the Cinemark Christiana. I found the showtimes on Fandango, bought my ticket online, and headed over. It was a pretty smooth process, all things considered. The movie was good, the popcorn was buttery, and the seats were comfy. Overall, it was a good experience.
My Movie Day Summary
So, that’s my story about finding a movie in New Castle. It took a little bit of digging, but I found what I was looking for. If you’re ever in New Castle and want to catch a flick, I’d say check out Fandango for showtimes and maybe give Cinemark Christiana a try. Just be prepared to shell out some cash for those tickets!
