The Kardashians star Khloé Kardashian is the self-proclaimed “open book” of the Kar-Jenner clan. Known for her bold and unapologetic personality, many think that Khloé Kardashian is the most relatable member of the infamous reality TV family and by launching her own podcast, titled Khloe in Wonder Land, Khloé is moving away from her family’s often overly produced and obviously scripted reality TV shows. Therefore, it’s only fair to hope that Khloe’s upcoming podcast tops things up with honest conversations and a real look at the woman behind the camera.
Now, the Kar-Jenners are no strangers to controversy, and the Good American founder has faced her fair share of them — from failed relationships to intense public scrutiny over her physical appearance, the reality star has found herself in the news for all kinds of reasons. However, the one thing that she is always criticized for is her lack of honesty. Out of all the Kar-Jenners, Khloé is always under fire for her selective transparency. It’s almost like she has a knack for openly sharing the good parts of her life while strategically downplaying the ugly ones. With Khloé in Wonder Land, she has a chance to be the unfiltered person she portrays herself as on the show. But will that really happen? Or is this podcast just another extension of the curated Kardashian brand?
Khloé Kardashian Lied About Her Appearance for Years
Since the premiere of Keeping Up with the Kardashians in 2007, many members of the reality family have undergone drastic physical transformations. But while Kylie Jenner admitted to getting lip injections and Kourtney Kardashian has been honest about her breast enlargement, Khloé Kardashian has often avoided questions about her own self. For years, fans speculated about Khloé Kardashian’s nose job. But she would keep claiming that her constantly changing appearance was because of filters, lighting, and good makeup.
It wasn’t until the Keeping Up with the Kardashians reunion special, which aired in 2021, that Khloé Kardashian finally came clean. During the two-part special, Khloe admitted that she had gotten a nose job in March 2019. While the revelation wasn’t exactly news for loyal fans of the show, it just made everyone wonder why the reality star felt the need to deny it initially.

Kids should be off limits on reality television.
Beyond just the nose job, though, Khloé has remained silent over all the rumors surrounding her impossibly slimmer waist, sharper jawline, and fuller lips. While Kardashian credits her transformation to her workout routine and healthy eating, the dramatic changes in her facial structure and body proportions suggest there’s more to the story than just her intense gym sessions.
Khlo-Money Goes to Great Lengths to Create Certain Narratives
Khloé has been on reality TV since she was 23 years old and while being followed by cameras all the time is bound to have an impact on her life, it has also given her the chance to strategically create a public image of herself. She has often talked about not having any secrets and always being her most authentic self in front of the cameras, and many fans have the same opinion of her. However, still, time and again, it’s clear that her candidness comes with its limits. Khloé has a pattern of leaving out the more uncomfortable and messy details of her life, which completely negates the image she tries to create of herself on reality TV, and while that might not exactly be a reflection of who she is as a person, does create a certain subconscious image of her inside a casual fan’s head.
Let’s take her complicated relationship with Tristan Thompson for example, which has been an important storyline in Keeping Up with the Kardashians and its Hulu reboot, The Kardashians as well. While she has opened up about her former partner’s multiple instances of infidelity on the shows, the narrative has often centered around forgiveness and moving on instead of her touching base on complex feelings and the hard side of them all.
For instance, she once briefly addressed Tristan’s paternity scandal with Maralee Nichols in 2021, the news of which, came right in the middle of Kardashian and Thompson’s surrogacy journey for their second child. Now, while the reality star did talk about being hurt and blindsided, she didn’t linger on her complex feelings and focused more on the joys of co-parenting. This felt like a missed opportunity where she could have been honest with her fans about how it felt to welcome a new baby in these circumstances or reflect on her decision to forgive Thompson all the times he cheated on her.
Is Khloé Kardashian Scared of Vulnerability?
Considering all of this, what’s to say Khloé Kardashian’s need to keep up appearances will not extend to her podcast? Because if she wants to achieve something with Khloe in Wonderland, she has to stop avoiding hard conversations and gain back her fans’ trust. The key to a successful podcast is honesty and vulnerability, and if Khloé Kardashian isn’t ready for that, she might just ending up alienating her core audience even more.
The Kardashians Season 6 premieres February 6, 2025, on Hulu. Previous episodes of the show are also available to stream on the platform.
