Okay, so I was trying to find some movies like “Lion” (2016). You know, that movie really tugged at my heartstrings, and I was in the mood for something similar. So, I started my little quest.
First, I fired up my laptop and thought, “Where do I even begin?” I mean, there are tons of streaming sites out there. I went straight to Google and typed in “movies like Lion 2016”. The results? Overwhelming. There were lists upon lists, and I felt like I was drowning in movie titles.
I decided to check out a few of the big names first, like Netflix. I browsed through their “drama” and “based on a true story” sections. They have a pretty solid collection, and I did find a couple of similar movies, but nothing that really screamed “this is the one!”
Then, I remembered Tubi. It’s free, so why not, right? I jumped on their site and used their search bar. They actually have a surprisingly large library. I dug around in their “drama” and “international” sections, since “Lion” has that international vibe. I found a couple that piqued my interest, but still not quite what I was hoping for.
Next up, I used this site called JustWatch. It’s pretty neat because it lets you filter by streaming service. I searched for movies like lion on different streaming sites. I spent a good chunk of time going through their suggestions, checking ratings and descriptions. I added a few potential candidates to my watchlist.
I also checked out Movies Anywhere. I liked the idea of having all my movies in one place. They have a decent selection from different studios. I found one or two that looked promising, but nothing that made me want to drop everything and start watching immediately.

After all that searching, I made a list of about five movies that seemed like they might fit the bill. They all had similar themes of searching for family, overcoming adversity, and that kind of emotional journey that “Lion” does so well. It was a lot of work.

My List of Movies like Lion 2016
Honestly, finding these movies was a bit of a journey in itself. But hey, at least I’ve got some good options for my next movie night! I’ll probably start with the one that has the best reviews and then work my way through the list. Wish me luck! Maybe I’ll find my next “Lion”.
