Okay, so I’ve been digging into this whole “homesteading” thing lately, and one evening I was wondering, “Are there any shows about this on Netflix?”
I grabbed my laptop and started poking around on Netflix. Typed in “homesteading” and, well, not much popped up. But that didn’t stop me. I broadened my search terms, tried things like “off-grid living,” “sustainable farming,” and even just “survival.”
This opened up a few more doors. I found this British reality show, and oh boy, it was an eye-opener. It followed these folks who had figured out all sorts of ways to live without rent or mortgage. Sounds awesome, right? But the show really dug into the nitty-gritty. It showed all the sacrifices and compromises these people made. It wasn’t all sunshine and roses, let me tell you.
Reality Check
- Started watching other shows and some YouTube channels on sustainable living.
- Realized that most of these shows prioritize skills over resources. You gotta know how to do stuff with your hands.
- Decided to focus on shows that seemed more realistic. Some of them were just for entertainment, which is fine, but I wanted something more educational.
I stumbled upon a documentary series that followed five different farming families. It showed their struggles, their wins, everything. It was pretty raw and honest. And honestly, a little inspiring.
Then I dove deeper, found some stuff about beekeeping, tiny houses, even some documentaries related to sustainable living. It was a bit of a mixed bag, but I started to get a better sense of what this whole homesteading thing was about. It is not just about growing your own food, it is a whole lifestyle change.
The end result? I ended up with a much better idea of what homesteading involves. I might even try out a few small things myself. Gardening, maybe. We’ll see. It has been a journey, that’s for sure.
