I was bored today and decided to find some movies about artists on Netflix. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for a while, you know, to get some inspiration and all that.

First, I just went straight to Netflix and typed “movies about artists” in the search bar. I got some results, but not exactly what I was looking for. There were a lot of documentaries and biopics, which is cool, but I wanted something more… I don’t know, narrative-driven.

Then I thought, “Okay, let’s try Google.” So, I opened a new tab and searched for “best movies about artists on Netflix”. This gave me a bunch of articles and listicles. I skimmed through a few, jotting down some titles that sounded interesting. There were mentions of this film called “Mr. Turner”, a 2014 movie by some guy named Mike Leigh. It’s apparently about a British painter.

I also found something called “Loving Vincent” which I vaguely remember hearing about. It’s a 2017 film directed by, let me check my notes, DK. I remember it being visually unique, and from what I read it is something about animation. So, that’s added to my list.

  • Mr. Turner (2014)
  • Loving Vincent (2017)

After making a list, I went back to Netflix and searched for each title individually. Success! They were all there. I added them to my watchlist, thinking I’d start with “Mr. Turner” since it seemed the most grounded in reality, and then move on to “Loving Vincent” for a change of pace.

I watched the first film and it was a really slow burn, but I liked it. I’ll probably check out “Loving Vincent” tomorrow. It’s nice to have something to look forward to. Overall, I’m glad I did this little search. I found some cool movies and learned a bit about some artists I hadn’t heard of before. If you’re into art or just looking for something different to watch, maybe give these a try.
