Okay, so the other day I was thinking it’d be cool to mess around with some audio editing, you know, add some spooky vibes to my stuff. I figured, why not try to find some horror movie samples? Let me tell you, it was quite the ride.

First off, I started by just trying to find some samples. It is a really tough thing. I googled, like, “horror movie sound effects” and “scary movie audio clips.” You wouldn’t believe the random stuff that pops up. Tons of websites, but most of them were either super cheesy or wanted me to sign up for some subscription. I spent a good chunk of time just sifting through all that mess.

Then, I stumbled upon a couple of forums where people were talking about this kind of thing. Some users suggested a few software names, and then I found some of those softwares and try to download them. I downloaded several of them and most of them can not be used or full of virus.

  • First try, Failed.
  • Second try, still failed.
  • Third try, got it!

After I downloaded one that can be used. I started to import some of my favorate horror movie audio clips. There are some that were really awesome, but the quality was pretty bad in some of them. So, I tried to use those software to clean up some of the audio I found, remove background noise and stuff like that. It actually worked pretty well, although it took a while to figure out all the settings.

Once I had some clean samples, I started playing around with them in my audio editor. I layered some creepy whispers with a banging door sound, added some eerie music in the background. Man, it sounded pretty good! It was a lot of trial and error, but super satisfying to create something that actually gave me chills.

At last, I successfully created several horror audio samples, I posted my favorite one to my social media accounts, and guess what? People loved it! I got tons of comments asking how I did it and where I found the samples. It felt really cool to share something I made and have people appreciate it.

This whole experience taught me that even simple-sounding projects can be quite involved. But hey, it’s all about the journey, right? And the best part is, I now have a bunch of awesome horror samples to use in future projects. Maybe I’ll even make a whole spooky sound library!
