Okay, so I got this idea to make some horror movie-themed stuff, and I thought, why not try silicone molds? I mean, who doesn’t love a good scare, right? So, I decided to give it a go. First things first, I needed to gather my materials. I went online and ordered a bunch of silicone mold-making kits. I made sure to get the ones that are food-safe because I’m planning to use these molds for chocolates and maybe some spooky Jell-O shots.
Once the kits arrived, I got to work. I picked out some of my favorite horror movie props that I had lying around – a tiny replica of a certain glove with knives, a small hockey mask, and a few other creepy things. I followed the instructions on the silicone kit, which was pretty straightforward. Basically, you mix two parts of the silicone together and then pour it over the object you want to make a mold of. Sounds easy enough, right?
Mixing and Pouring
- Mixing the silicone was a bit messy, gotta admit. You have to work fast because this stuff starts to set pretty quickly.
- I placed my horror movie props in little containers and carefully poured the silicone over them.
- The hardest part was waiting. It takes a few hours for the silicone to fully cure, and I’m not the most patient person.
After what felt like forever, the molds were ready. I carefully removed the props, and I have to say, the detail on these molds is insane! You can see every little scratch and dent from the original items. I was pretty stoked. Now, the fun part – making the creepy treats.
I melted some chocolate, added a bit of red food coloring to some of it to make it look like blood, and poured it into the molds. I also made some green Jell-O for the other molds. Popped them in the fridge to set, and boom! I had these awesome-looking, horror-themed chocolates and Jell-O shots. They looked so cool, and honestly, a little too real.
I took some pictures, cause you know, gotta share this stuff on my blog. My friends thought it was a little weird, but they loved the idea. So yeah, that’s my little horror movie silicone mold adventure. It was fun, a bit messy, but totally worth it. If you’re into horror and like making stuff, you should definitely try this out.
