Okay, so the other day I was thinking, “I need some serious inspiration.” You know, the kind that gets you all fired up to create something awesome. So, I thought, what better way to get those creative juices flowing than by watching movies about creativity? Here’s how I went about it.
My Movie Marathon for Creativity
First, I brainstormed. I made a quick list of movies I could remember that had anything to do with artists, writers, musicians, or just generally creative people. I jotted down a few obvious ones, but I knew I needed more.
Next, I hit up Google. I just typed in “movies about creativity” and “best films for creative inspiration”– super basic, I know. I scrolled through a bunch of articles and lists, and added a few more titles to my own list. I was looking for a mix of well-known movies and maybe some hidden gems.
- Checked some movie review sites.
- Read movie blogs.
Then, I narrowed down my list. I didn’t want to spend a whole week watching movies (though that does sound tempting!). I picked like, five or six films that looked the most interesting, and that covered different creative fields. I was aiming for variety.
Then, I get to watch. I prepared snacks with my friend, turn off the light, and enjoy the movie.
Finally, I watched the movies! I made sure I had a notebook and pen nearby, just in case I got any brilliant ideas while watching. Some movies were total hits, others were kind of “meh,” but that’s okay. The whole point was to expose myself to different stories and see if anything sparked.

After each movie, I jotted down some notes. What did I like? What inspired me? Were there any specific scenes or characters that resonated with me? This helped me process everything and keep track of my thoughts.
It was a pretty simple process, really. Nothing fancy, but it definitely helped me! Sometimes, all you need is a little nudge (and a good movie) to get those creative gears turning. I got new ideas!
