Okay, so today I wanted to make a movie poster for “Last Action Hero.” It’s such a classic, you know? I’ve always loved that over-the-top action vibe, and I figured it would be a fun design challenge.
Getting Started
First, I gathered some inspiration. I looked at a bunch of different versions of the official poster, plus some fan-made stuff. I really wanted to capture that explosive, larger-than-life feeling.
Brainstorm & Draft
Next, I did some quick sketches. Nothing fancy, just trying to get the basic layout down.
- I knew I wanted Schwarzenegger front and center, obviously.
- Maybe with some explosions in the background?
- And definitely that iconic golden ticket!
Executing Design
I used a simple image editing software.
I started by finding a good picture of Arnold. It took a while, but I finally found one that had the right “tough guy” pose. Then I started playing around with different backgrounds. I tried a few different explosions and cityscapes, trying to find something that looked dynamic but not too cluttered.

The ticket was surprisingly tricky! I couldn’t find a good, high-quality image of it, so I ended up kind of recreating it from scratch. It wasn’t perfect, but it got the job done.
The colors were important. I wanted something that felt vibrant and exciting, so I went with a lot of yellows, oranges, and reds. I also added some film grain and texture to give it that slightly retro feel.
Review & Tweak
After a few hours of tinkering, I had something I was pretty happy with. I showed it to a couple of friends, and they gave me some good feedback. I made a few small tweaks based on their suggestions – mostly just adjusting the colors and contrast a bit.
Final Result
In the end, It’s not gonna win any awards, but it was a lot of fun to make. It’s definitely got that “Last Action Hero” energy, and that’s what I was going for.
