Following her made-for-TV movie, Natalie (previously Nadya) Suleman and her 14 children are giving a glimpse into their lives for the first time — and viewers will also hear from her sperm donor.

A new six-part documentary series, Confessions of Octomom, premieres on Monday, March 10, on Lifetime. “With her octuplets turning 16 this January and her other six children ranging from 17 to 23 years old, Suleman has been out of the public eye for years and now,” says the logline. “[Suleman and her family] reveal a much different life than the world has ever been privy to before. The series also follows the octuplets through their challenges and triumphs, growing up in the spotlight and their desire to move beyond their now secluded life.”

Now 49, Suleman made headlines in 2009 when she gave birth to the world’s first known octuplets to survive infancy. Dubbed the “Octomom,” Suleman was heavily scrutinized by the media and became the subject of many documentaries, including one by BAFTA-nominated filmmaker Luke Campbell. In the official trailer, blogger and author Perez Hilton notes that Suleman was voted the most hated mom in America.

In her Lifetime movie, I Was Octomom, Suleman noted that she was already a mom of six when she decided to have one more IVF procedure to try for her seventh and final child. Her fertility doctor, Michael Kamrava, implanted more embroyos than usual for a woman of her age, resulting in her giving birth to eight babies prematurely. Kamrava later had his medical license revoked, CBS News previously reported.

“I’ve always wanted a mom, I wanted a big family. I think I may have overchieved it,” Suleman jokes in the official trailer for Confessions of Octomom. “I’ve been waiting a very very long time to tell my true story, and I think the world is ready do hear it.”

Adds one of her eldest daughters, “my mom did everything in her power to protect her kids.”
