Travel Brand Monos Opens West Coast Location on Venice’s Abbot Kinney

Monos has traveled to the West Coast and planted roots with its first Los Angeles location.

The Canadian-based travel and lifestyle brand officially opened doors to its store on Venice’s retail mecca Abbot Kinney Boulevard Friday. But VIPs got a sneak peek at the minimalist haven at a private invite-only bash Thursday night as travel aficionados flocked to the new address to check out the wares in the space which spans more than 3,000-square feet. The full Monos collection — spanning luggage and bags to travel accessories — is available as are additional services like repairs and personalization.

The brand has been praised by those in the know for its minimalist designs, craftsmanship and sustainable practices, qualities that propelled it to become something of a cult brand that boasts a new sale every 10 minutes across the globe in 56 countries. The Venice outpost follows Canadian locations and an earlier U.S. opening in Boston with additional brick-and-mortar locations planned for Chicago, New York City and Washington, D.C. this fall.

“Los Angeles embodies so much of what Monos stands for — creativity, cultural diversity and a deep connection to global travel. In a city that celebrates artistry and individuality, we believe Monos will feel right at home,” said Monos co-founder and CEO Victor Tam. “For now, it adds balance to our footprint by being our only West Coast store in the country, making it an important step in our expansion journey.”

“Much like Venice Beach to L.A., the Monos Abbot Kinney store offers a moment of calm to an otherwise busy strip,” added Monos co-founder and chief creative officer Hubert Chan. “Our outdoor seating area invites you to pause, reflect and connect with the community. Inside, the oceanic blues echo the California coast, anchored by a fluid, curved glass sculpture.”

The opening will be celebrated all weekend with complimentary Sungold ice pop x Monos exclusive matcha lemonade popsicles, a storefront installation featuring a 1964 ½ Mustang convertible styled with Monos luggage, special giveaways including Monos bags and travel accessories for the first 25 shoppers to come through the doors each day and more.
