Them horror flicks, they ain’t like them other movies. They give you the shivers, make you jump outta your seat. Makes you wonder who’s cookin’ up all these scary stories for us to watch.
I heard there’s these places, these movie companies, where they just make horror. Horror movie production companies, they call ’em. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it’s just folks makin’ movies about ghosts and monsters and things that go bump in the night.
- One of them big ones, they say, is somethin’ called “Blumhouse.” Sounds like a creepy old house, right? Fits right in with the scary movies they make. They been around a while, since 2000, someone told me. They make all sorts of scary stuff, like them “Paranormal Activity” movies. Them ones where you see ghosts floatin’ around on cameras. And another one, “Insidious,” somethin’ like that. Never seen ’em myself, too scared, you know?
Now, this Blumhouse, they don’t spend a lotta money on their movies. Smart, I guess. Why spend more when you can make folks jump with less? They let the directors do what they want, tell the stories how they wanna tell ’em. And they put them movies out there for everyone to see.
There’s others, too, these horror movie companies. Some other names, hard to remember. One had somethin’ about a “castle” in it. Dark Castle, maybe? Sounds spooky, right? And there’s others with pictures in their names, like “Ghost House Pictures” or “Twisted Pictures.” You can tell what kinda movies they make just by the names, huh?
This Blumhouse, they even got another part of their company, called BH Tilt. I ain’t sure what that means, but they make movies too. More scary stuff, I bet.
Then you got them old-time movie places, like Universal Pictures. They been makin’ scary movies since way back when. They even tried to make a whole bunch of ’em connected, called it the “Dark Universe.” Like them monsters all knew each other. Didn’t work out so well, I heard.
And there’s this fella, John Carpenter. He ain’t no company, but he makes scary movies all by himself. He did “Halloween,” you know, with that fella in the mask? And “The Thing,” somethin’ about a monster in the snow. He’s got a real knack for makin’ you look over your shoulder.
They make these movies in all sorts of places. Pinewood Studios, someone mentioned. That sounds fancy too. Got all sorts of machines and gizmos for makin’ movies. Avid Suites, they called ’em. No idea what that means, but sounds important.
So, them horror movie production companies, they’re the ones bringin’ us all them scares. Sometimes I wonder where they get all them ideas. Must be some strange folks workin’ there. But hey, they keep us entertained, right? Keep us checkin’ under the bed and lockin’ the doors at night. Maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe.
