Well, I reckon this movie “It Ends With Us” ain’t too bad if you’re someone who likes them romance stories. Now, I ain’t one to sit in front of the TV all day, but I watched it with my granddaughter last week. She said it was real popular, so I figured I’d give it a try. From what I seen, it’s all about a young woman, Lily, who falls in love with a man named Ryle, but things ain’t all rosy, if ya know what I mean. There’s plenty of love and drama, and there’s some real heavy stuff about abuse too, so if you’re sensitive to them things, might wanna think twice.
First off, the movie did a good job grabbin’ your attention. It sure pulls you right in, especially if you know what you’re gettin’ into. It’s based on that book by Colleen Hoover, and well, I ain’t read the book myself, but I heard it’s real popular with young folks these days. Anyway, the movie takes you through Lily’s ups and downs. She’s a strong woman, but she gets tangled up in a whole mess of emotions, what with Ryle and the past she can’t seem to shake. Now, I ain’t gonna spoil the whole thing for ya, but there’s a lotta twists and turns that’ll leave you thinkin’ and maybe even tearin’ up a bit. But sometimes, I felt like the movie just rushed through some of the important stuff. It could’ve slowed down and given a bit more of that backstory and depth, if ya ask me.
Is it worth watchin’? Well, that depends on what kind of movie you’re into. If you like them romantic dramas with a lil’ bit of a hard edge, it might just be your thing. There’s some tough scenes, especially ‘round the abuse parts. It’s hard to watch, and it’ll probably make ya uncomfortable, but that’s the point, I guess. It shows how love can turn into somethin’ real ugly, and how hard it can be to leave someone when you still care about ‘em. There’s a lot of emotional baggage in this one, so you gotta be ready for it.
Now, I gotta tell ya, there’s some parts where the movie gets a little too steamy for my taste. Some nudity and a bit too much of that romantic stuff for my likin’. Not that I’m opposed to a little romance, mind ya, but there’s a fine line between showin’ affection and, well, what I’d call “too much.” Still, it ain’t so bad if you ain’t shy about that sorta thing.
How does it compare to the book? Well, as I said, I didn’t read the book, but I heard it’s got a lot more to it than what the movie shows. The book dives deep into the characters’ emotions and their pasts, and from what folks say, the movie kinda skips over some of that. Now, I’m not sayin’ the movie’s bad, but I reckon if you read the book first, some parts of the movie might leave ya wonderin’ why they didn’t show more. I suppose when you turn a book into a movie, there’s always a few things that get left out, but sometimes I think they shoulda spent more time explainin’ stuff. That woulda helped make the characters feel more real, if you ask me.
Critics say? Well, the critics ain’t too sure about it. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie’s sittin’ at about 60% with 44 reviews. Now, I don’t know much about them critic scores, but it seems like folks are split on whether it’s a hit or miss. Some folks really liked it, said it was emotional and well-done, while others felt it was a bit too predictable or rushed. Me, I’d say it’s somewhere in between. It ain’t perfect, but it’s got heart.
Final thoughts—If you’re lookin’ for a good, emotional story about love, heartbreak, and tough choices, this here movie is worth a watch. But if you ain’t into them heavy subjects like abuse or if ya get squeamish with all that sexual stuff, maybe look for somethin’ else. It’s definitely a movie that’ll make ya think, and might even make ya cry. But, it’s also a reminder that sometimes, love ain’t as simple as it seems.
