Alright, listen up, y’all. I just saw this movie, “Lisa Frankenstein,” and I’m gonna tell ya what I think, even if it ain’t pretty. Don’t expect no fancy words or nothin’, just plain talk from a plain ol’ person.
Now, this here movie, it’s about a young gal, Lisa, and this fella she likes. Only problem is, the fella’s dead as a doornail. Yep, a corpse. But somehow, and I ain’t quite sure how, he comes back to life. Not all in one piece, mind you, but he’s back.
So, these two young’uns, they go off on an adventure. They’re lookin’ for love, happiness, and wouldn’t ya know it, some missin’ body parts too. I guess when you’re a corpse, you ain’t always got all your bits and pieces.
The Good Stuff, Sort Of
Now, I gotta say, I was kinda relieved there weren’t no jump scares. Them things, they make me wanna jump outta my skin. This movie, it didn’t have none of that, which was nice. But the scary parts, they weren’t all that scary neither. Kinda dragged on and on, if you ask me. I kept waitin’ for somethin’ big to happen, somethin’ to make me shiver, but it never really did. Even the gory parts, they weren’t nothin’ to write home about. Just kinda…disturbin’, I guess you could say.
The actors, though, they did alright. Young folks, full of energy. And the music, it was that old-timey stuff from the 80s. That was kinda fun, brought back some memories, even if I can’t remember half of ’em anymore. The music, it kinda perked things up a bit, made it a little more lively.
- No jump scares (thank the Lord!)
- Young actors, full of pep
- Catchy 80s music
The Not-So-Good Stuff
But here’s the thing, the whole story, it just felt…off. Like it didn’t know what it wanted to be. Was it supposed to be scary? Funny? Romantic? I dunno. It was kinda all over the place. And that dead fella, he wasn’t exactly charmin’. Hard to root for a guy when he’s missin’ half his body, ya know?
And the story, it just didn’t grab me. I didn’t really care about these kids and their problems. I mean, missin’ body parts? That’s a problem, sure, but it just didn’t feel real, ya know? It felt like they were tryin’ too hard to be weird and different, and it just ended up bein’ kinda…borin’.
- The scary parts weren’t scary
- The story dragged on
- The characters weren’t very likable
- The whole thing was just kinda…weird
The Bottom Line
So, would I recommend this “Lisa Frankenstein” movie? Well, I dunno. Maybe if you ain’t got nothin’ better to do. Maybe if you like them weird, kinda gory, kinda not-scary movies. But if you’re lookin’ for a good scare, or a heartfelt love story, or somethin’ that makes sense, well, you might wanna look elsewhere.
It ain’t the worst movie I ever seen, but it ain’t the best neither. It’s just…there. Kinda like that old casserole dish you got in the back of the fridge. You know it’s there, you might even take a bite, but it ain’t somethin’ you’re gonna crave.
This Zelda Williams, she directed this here movie, her first one. Well, she’s got some learnin’ to do, that’s for sure. Maybe next time she’ll make somethin’ a little more…interestin’. But hey, everyone starts somewhere, right?
Anyways, that’s my two cents. Take it or leave it. I’m just a plain ol’ person, tellin’ it like I see it.
