Alright, so y’all wanna hear about this “Case for Christ” movie, huh? I watched it, and I’m gonna tell ya what I think, no fancy words or nothin’. Just plain talk, like we’re sittin’ on the porch swingin’ and chattin’.

So, this fella, Lee, he’s a big-shot reporter in Chicago. Real smart guy, thinks he knows it all, and he definitely don’t believe in no God. Nope, not one bit. He’s what they call an atheist, which I guess means he figures there ain’t nothin’ up there lookin’ out for us.

Now, his wife, Leslie, she’s a different story. She starts goin’ to church and talkin’ about Jesus. This here Lee, he don’t like it one bit. He figures she’s been bamboozled, ya know? Like someone pulled the wool over her eyes. So, he decides he’s gonna prove her wrong. He’s gonna use all his reporter skills and smarts to show that this whole Jesus thing is a bunch of hooey.

  • He starts talkin’ to all sorts of folks.
  • Doctors, professors, even some preachers.
  • He’s askin’ ’em all sorts of questions, tryin’ to poke holes in their stories.

The movie, it takes place back in 1980. Things were different then, ya know? No cell phones or internet. If you wanted to find somethin’ out, you had to go talk to people face-to-face. That’s what Lee does. He travels all over, talkin’ to folks, readin’ books, tryin’ to get to the bottom of it all.

Now, the movie, it shows ya all the stuff Lee finds out. He learns about the history of Jesus, about the Bible, about all the evidence people say proves he was real and that he was, well, the son of God. It’s a lot of talkin’, I tell ya. Lots of folks explainin’ things. Some of it’s kinda hard to follow, even for me, and I’ve been around a good long while.

They call this movie a “docudrama,” which I guess means it’s based on a true story, but they made it all dramatic-like for the movies. I guess that’s why they got actors playin’ the parts instead of just showin’ the real people. Mike Vogel, he plays Lee, and he does a pretty good job of lookin’ all serious and determined. And Erika Christensen, she plays his wife, Leslie, and she’s real sweet and believable.

The thing is, the movie, it’s kinda slow. It ain’t like one of them action movies with explosions and car chases. It’s mostly just people talkin’. And a lot of that talkin’ is about history and religion, stuff that can make your head spin if you ain’t used to it. I kept thinkin’ to myself, “when are they gonna get to the good part?”

Now, I ain’t gonna tell ya how it ends, ’cause that would spoil it. But I will say this: it makes you think. Even if you don’t believe in God, like Lee at the beginnin’, it makes you wonder. It makes you think about what’s true and what ain’t. And it makes you think about what’s important in life.

For me, I always figured faith is somethin’ you feel in your heart, not somethin’ you prove with your head. But this movie, it shows you that there’s folks out there who think you can prove it. And they got some pretty interestin’ arguments, I gotta say.

So, would I recommend this movie? Well, it depends. If you like movies with lots of action and excitement, then this ain’t for you. But if you like movies that make you think, and if you’re interested in learnin’ a little somethin’ about Christianity, then you might like it. Just be prepared for a lot of talkin’ and a whole lotta history. And don’t expect no easy answers, ’cause this movie, it don’t give you none. It just gives you somethin’ to chew on.

Overall, I’d say it was a decent enough movie, but not somethin’ I’d watch again and again. It’s the kinda movie you watch once, think about for a while, and then move on. It ain’t gonna change your life or nothin’, but it might give you a new way of lookin’ at things.

At the end of the day, whether you believe in Jesus or not, that’s your own business. This movie, it just tells a story about one fella’s journey tryin’ to figure it all out. And maybe, just maybe, it’ll help you on your own journey, whatever that may be.
