Well, now, lemme tell ya ’bout them Lord of the Rings movie posters. Folks went wild for them pictures when them movies come out, I tell ya. They was everywhere!
Them posters, they got all sorts of folks on ’em. That little fella, Frodo, he’s on a bunch. And that wizard, Gandalf, with his big beard and staff, he’s all over the place too. They got pictures of them fighting orcs and goblins, and pictures of them pretty places, like that elf place, Rivendell, I think they called it. Real fancy looking it was.
I remember seein’ posters with that scary lookin’ fella, Gollum, on ’em. Skinny and pale, he was. Always after that ring, he was. Drove folks crazy, that ring did. Caused a whole heap of trouble, if you ask me.
- Old Posters: Now, some of them posters, they ain’t new no more. They call ’em vintage, I reckon. Folks pay good money for them old ones, specially the ones from the seventies, they say. Got maps of Middle-earth on ’em, and pictures by some fella named Hickman and a lady named Baynes. I dunno who they are, but folks seem to like their pictures.
- New Posters: Then you got the newer ones, from when them movies was in the theaters. Big and shiny, they was. Showin’ all the actors, like that fella Viggo somethin’-or-other, and that pretty elf lady, Liv Tyler. They had pictures of big battles, and them scary lookin’ black riders.
You can find them posters all over the place, if you know where to look. Some folks sell ’em online, on that e-bay thing. Other folks sell ’em at them collector shows, you know, where they sell all sorts of old junk. And I reckon you can still find some new ones in stores, though I ain’t been lookin’ myself.
I heard tell there was some kinda fight over who gets to make what with them Lord of the Rings stories. Some folks own the books, and some folks own the movies, and some folks own the games and toys and such. Sounds like a whole heap of trouble to me. Can’t they just share and be nice?
Now, I seen some posters that was just pictures of the actors, standin’ around lookin’ serious. And I seen some that was just maps of Middle-earth, with all them funny names on ’em. And I seen some that was just pictures of the ring, all glowy and gold. It’s all a matter of taste, I reckon. Some folks like one thing, some folks like another.

Prices: I heard some them old posters, the real rare ones, can fetch a pretty penny. Hundreds of dollars, they say! Can you believe it? For a piece of paper! But I guess if folks want it bad enough, they’ll pay whatever it takes. Them newer ones, they ain’t so pricey. You can probably find one for a few dollars, if you look hard enough.
If you’re lookin’ to buy a poster, I reckon you gotta figure out what you want first. Do you want an old one or a new one? Do you want a picture of the characters, or a map, or somethin’ else? And how much you wanna spend? Once you got that figured out, then you can start lookin’ around.
And be careful where you buy from, I tell ya. There’s some folks out there tryin’ to cheat ya, sellin’ fake posters for big money. So make sure you buy from someone you trust. Or, better yet, find one at a yard sale or somethin’. You might get lucky and find a real treasure for a couple of bucks.
So there ya have it. That’s all I know ’bout them Lord of the Rings movie posters. They’re pretty pictures, some of ’em, and folks seem to like ’em a whole lot. Me, I’d rather have a good cup of coffee and a piece of pie, but to each their own, I always say.
