Hoodoo is folk magic. Africans who were brought to the Americas for slavery utilized a mixture of their own African indigenous spiritual systems and incorporated scriptures from the Bible especially the book of psalms. Voodoo or Vodun is different as this spiritual system uses Loas or deities for possessions, magic, Sigils and other spiritual practices. Voodoo is a specific African spiritual system with priest and priestess and so forth as opposed to Hoodoo was a spiritual response of the African slaves in North America comprised of various African systems-a form of folk magic. Both spiritual systems are powerful and have been used to combat political and social oppression Black Haitian partitioners of Vodoo used this spiritual system as a catalyst to take their freedom from Slavery. On January 1,1804 Haiti became the first free Black nation of slaves who took their freedom from white slave masters Voodoo was an empowering force for the success of Haiti’s Independence. Ase.
Just tuned in and this was phenomenal. Had me jumping and my heart was racing.
