Well, howdy there! Let’s yak a bit about these movie theaters in New Bern, you know, the places where they show them pictures that move and tell stories. I ain’t been to all of ’em, mind you, but I’ve heard a thing or two, and seen a bit myself.
First off, there’s this Bruin Theater. Folks say it’s right there on 2500 Neuse Boulevard. Easy to find, they tell me. Got a map and all if you need it, but I reckon most folks in town know where it is. They play all sorts of movies there, I hear. New ones, old ones, some for the young’uns, some for us older folks. Don’t rightly know the prices, but I guess it ain’t too bad. You can even call ’em up if you want, at 252-633-2772. That’s what the young folks do, always on them phones.
Then there’s this other one, Eastern NC Cinemas. They say it’s real nice, a good place to go if you wanna have a “reel good time,” whatever that means. They’re all about movies and entertainment, you know, makin’ folks happy and such. Sounds like a good place to take the grandkids, maybe get some popcorn and some of that fizzy drink. They make a big fuss about it bein’ a good place for films and all. I reckon they must be doin’ somethin’ right if folks are sayin’ that.
Now, there’s another one called Bear Town Cinema 6. That one’s over on Trent Road, number 2806, to be exact. They got a phone number too, (252) 638-1820, if you need to call ’em. I heard they got a whole bunch of movies playin’ most days. Like, seven movies at once! Can you imagine? That’s a whole lot of stories to watch. They got this thing called IMDb where they tell you what movies are playin’ and when. It’s on that internet thingy, the one the kids are always fiddlin’ with.

I heard some folks talkin’ about how these movies ain’t like they used to be. Back in my day, they used them big reels of film, you know? Now they got these digital thingamajigs, projectors they call ’em. Makes the picture real clear, I guess. But it ain’t the same, not really. Somethin’ about that old film, it just felt different.
And let me tell you, these movies, they cost a pretty penny to make. Some of ‘em, they don’t do so well, and the folks makin’ ‘em lose money. But then you get a real good one, a hit, and it stays in the theater for weeks! Folks just keep goin’ back to see it again and again. That’s how they make their money, I reckon.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do in New Bern, goin’ to the movies ain’t a bad idea. You got a few choices, and they all seem to have plenty of movies to pick from. Just remember to bring some money for popcorn and maybe a soda. And if you see an old lady like me there, don’t be surprised! I like a good story as much as the next fella.
