Alright, so you wanna know about them movie theaters in New Haven, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t like the old days when we just had that one screen and everyone piled in. Now they got all sorts of fancy places and choices, makes an old lady’s head spin!
First off, you got this Fandango thing. Sounds like a dance, but it ain’t. It’s how them young folks find out what movies are playin’ and where. They type somethin’ on their little boxes, and poof! All the showtimes pop up. They got movies playin’ near New Haven, near the University, all over the place. Handy, I guess, if you know how to work them things.
Now, if you ask me which ones are the best, that’s a whole ‘nother story. Some folks like them big fancy theaters, like that Cinemark North Haven and XD. Got that “XD” thing, whatever that is, makes the picture real big and loud, I hear. Then there’s Cine 4, been around a while, a good ol’ standby, ya know? Folks also talk about Fairmount Theater and Shubert Theatre, but I ain’t been to them myself. Too much fuss for an old lady like me.
Then there’s the food, oh my! Used to be just popcorn and soda, but now? You got places like Studio Eats Kitchen & Bar in Milford, they got real food, like a restaurant! Can you believe it? And some of these theaters, like Prospector Theater, they got all sorts of fancy seats and whatnot. Recliners, they call ’em. Like sittin’ in your own living room, but with a giant picture in front of ya.
And they got all different kinds of movies too. Not just them cowboy flicks and love stories like we used to have. They got superhero movies, cartoons for grown-ups, all sorts of things. You can even find movies near them zip codes, like 06534 and 06512, whatever them numbers mean. They say there’s new movies comin’ out all the time, near New Haven and everywhere else. Hard to keep up, I tell ya.
But here’s the sad part. That Bow Tie Criterion Cinemas downtown, they’re closin’ down. Used to be the only one right there in the city, but now it’s goin’ dark. Shame, really. Guess times are changin’. But they still got them “Tuesdays Are for Ticket Savings” thing, so that’s somethin’. They always tryin’ to get ya to spend money, these young folks.
They even got this “AMC Marquis 16” and “York Sq Cinemas 1-2 the New Lincoln”. So many choices! Makes my head spin just thinkin’ about it. And that “XD” thing again, they keep talkin’ about it. Guess it must be important.
- So, to sum it up, you got lots of choices for movie theaters in New Haven.
- You can find showtimes on Fandango.
- There’s big fancy theaters and smaller ones too.
- Some got food, some got fancy seats.
- And there’s always new movies coming out.
But don’t ask me to pick one, I ain’t been to half of ’em! I’m just an old lady, what do I know? But I hope this helps ya figure out where to go see your pictures. Just remember to bring your money, ’cause it ain’t cheap these days!
And one more thing, they got this thing called “Yelp” where folks write reviews about the theaters. You can look at that too, if you want. But take it with a grain of salt, ya know? Some folks complain about everything. Just go and see for yourself, that’s what I say.
