Alright, let’s talk about this Damsel movie on Netflix. Folks are callin’ it a “parents guide,” so I guess that means we gotta figure out if it’s somethin’ you wanna let your young’uns watch. Now, I ain’t no fancy movie critic or nothin’, but I watched it, and I can tell ya what I saw.
First off, they say it’s got Millie Bobby Brown in it. You know, that girl from that Stranger Things show. She’s all grown up now, and she’s fightin’ a dragon in this one. Yeah, you heard me right, a big ol’ fire-breathin’ dragon. Not exactly the kinda thing you see every day, I tell ya.
They slapped a PG-13 rating on this here movie. Now, what does that mean? Well, it means there’s gonna be some fightin’, some scary stuff, and maybe a little bit of blood. Don’t go expectin’ no sunshine and rainbows, that’s for sure. This Millie Bobby Brown’s new Netflix movie ain’t no cartoon.
From what I saw, there’s plenty of action. Lots of runnin’, jumpin’, and swingin’ swords. Millie’s character, she’s a tough one, gotta give her that. She’s not waitin’ around for no prince to save her, no sir. She’s takin’ matters into her own hands, and she’s fightin’ that dragon tooth and nail. It is like the description I saw said: Damsel is an action-packed, fantasy adventure from Netflix. And I do agree with it.
Now, about that violence. There’s a fair bit of it. People gettin’ hurt, creatures gettin’ slayed… you know the drill. It ain’t the worst I’ve ever seen, but it ain’t for the faint of heart neither. If your kids are squeamish, you might wanna think twice. Or at least watch it with ’em, so you can cover their eyes during the rough parts.
- Strong creature violence: That dragon ain’t playin’ around, let me tell ya. Lots of fire and sharp claws.
- Action: People are runnin’ and fightin’ all over the place. It’s pretty fast-paced.
- Bloody images: Yeah, there’s some blood. Not buckets of it, but enough to notice.
But it ain’t all just fightin’ and scarin’. There’s a story in there too. Somethin’ about a princess and a sacrifice and a whole lot of trouble. To be honest, I didn’t follow all of it, but it seemed like Millie’s character was pretty strong and determined. She wasn’t just some weak little thing, and I liked that. It is exactly like the parents’ guide said: featuring a diverse cast with strong female role models.
So, who’s this movie for? Well, the people who made it say it’s for teens and older audiences. And I reckon that’s about right. Little kids, they might get scared. And heck, even some grown-ups might get a little jumpy. It really depends on what your kids are used to and what you’re comfortable with them seein’. And it seems many parents are interested in this film, since I read some reviews from parents.
If you’re on the fence, maybe watch the trailer first. That’ll give you a taste of what to expect. And if you’re still not sure, you can always read some reviews from other parents. There’s plenty of folks out there who’ve seen it and shared their thoughts. I guess that is why there are many Damsel reviews from parents on Common Sense Media.
Overall, I’d say Damsel is a pretty wild ride. It’s got action, adventure, and a fire-breathin’ dragon. Just be prepared for some violence and maybe a few scary moments. If you think your teenagers can handle it, then go for it. But if you’ve got little ones, maybe wait a few years. Or at least be ready to hold their hand and tell ’em it’s all make-believe.
And remember, every kid is different. What one can handle, another might not. You know your kids best, so use your best judgement. That’s all I gotta say about this Netflix movie.
