Alright, let’s talk about this “New Jack City” movie, you know, the one with all them gangsters and whatnot. I watched it the other day, and let me tell ya, it was somethin’ else.

First off, this Nino Brown fella, he’s bad news, real bad. He’s the head honcho of this Cash Money Brothers gang, sellin’ that crack stuff all over Harlem. Folks is gettin’ hooked, and he’s gettin’ rich. It ain’t right, I tell ya. Money ain’t everything.

  • This Wesley Snipes guy, he plays Nino Brown real good. Scary good. Makes you wanna just smack him upside the head.
  • Then there’s this Ice-T character, he’s a cop, tryin’ to clean up the streets. Good for him, I say. Somebody gotta do it.

The movie, it’s got a lot of shootin’ and yellin’. Folks is always fightin’ or runnin’ from the cops. It’s a mess, a real mess. But I guess that’s how it was back then, or maybe still is in some places. Makes you think, it does.

One thing that stuck with me is all them sayings, them “quotes” they call ‘em. Nino Brown, he’s got a mouth on him, that’s for sure. He says somethin’ like, “I’m not guilty. You’re the one that’s guilty.” Can you believe that? Blamin’ everyone else for his mess. Sounds like some folks I know.

And then there’s that “We all we got!” thing. G-Money says it first, but then Nino, he grits his teeth and says, “Yes I am!” Like he’s protectin’ his own, even though they’re doin’ wrong. It ain’t right, but it makes you think about loyalty, I guess.

There’s this girl too, Keisha. She says somethin’ about “Rock-a-bye.” I don’t rightly know what that means in the movie, but it sounds sad, like she’s sayin’ goodbye to somethin’ or someone. This movie, it’s full of sadness, even with all the fancy cars and money.

Mario Van Peebles, he directed this thing. Did a good job, I reckon. He even acted in it, played that cop partner of Ice-T’s character. Keeps you on the edge of your seat, this movie does. Even though I don’t rightly like all the violence and bad language.

They say it’s an “action-thriller film”. Sounds fancy, but it just means there’s a lot of shootin’ and chasin’ and whatnot. And it’s about that crack cocaine. Nasty stuff, that is. Ruins lives. This movie shows you that, clear as day.

And that Pookie fella, oh, that was just sad. They killed him, and then strapped a bomb to him. Just terrible. This movie ain’t for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. Makes you appreciate the good things in life, like a warm meal and a roof over your head. And not gettin’ mixed up with the wrong kind of folks, like that Nino Brown and his gang.

So, yeah, “New Jack City.” It’s a movie about crime and drugs and all that bad stuff. But it also makes you think about right and wrong, and how easy it is to get caught up in somethin’ you shouldn’t. Makes you grateful for what you got, even if it ain’t much. It’s a powerful story, that’s for sure, even if it ain’t always pretty.
