Alright, let’s talk about them scary movies, the ones like that Amityville Horror. You know, the one with the spooky house and all them ghosts? Yeah, that one! Scared the bejesus outta me, I tell ya. But, if you’re like me and you like gettin’ a good scare, then you’re in luck. There’s a whole bunch of ’em out there, movies that’ll make your hair stand on end.
First off, you got this Insidious movie. Folks say it’s real good, real scary. Made by some fella named James Wan. Don’t know him from Adam, but he sure knows how to make a spooky flick. It’s about ghosts and spirits and all that stuff. Keeps ya up at night, it does.

- Lots of jump scares, so hold onto your hat.
- About a family haunted by something… evil.
Then there’s this whole bunch of movies they say are just like The Amityville Horror. Seventy-eight of ‘em, they say! Can you believe it? That’s a lot of screamin’ and jumpin’. I ain’t seen ’em all, mind you, but I’ve seen a few. Some are good, some are bad, and some are just plain silly. But they all try to give you that same creepy feelin’ as that Amityville movie.
Now, there’s this other one, called Amityville Dollhouse. Came out a long time ago, back in ’96. I remember watchin’ it on one of them old box TVs. The picture wasn’t so good, but it was still scary enough. It’s about a dollhouse, wouldn’t ya know it, that’s got some kinda evil spirit in it. Dolls comin’ to life and all that jazz. Creepy stuff, I tell ya. Don’t watch it alone at night!
And if you’re lookin’ for where to watch these movies, well, they’re all over the place. You got your Netflix, your iTunes, your Amazon… all them fancy things the young folks use these days. I just stick to my old TV and the DVDs, myself. But you can find ’em wherever you watch your movies. Just search for movies like The Amityville Horror, and you’ll find a whole mess of ’em.
Speaking of that Amityville Horror, you know it’s based on a real story, right? Well, sort of real. This fella, Ronald DeFeo Jr., he killed his whole family back in 1974. Shot ’em dead in their own house. Terrible thing, it was. They say the house was haunted after that, and that’s what the movie’s about. Whether it’s true or not, it sure makes for a good scary story.
Another one you might wanna check out is called His House. Came out a few years back, in 2020. It’s about a couple who escape from Sudan, but they bring something evil with ’em. It’s not just ghosts this time, it’s somethin’ else, somethin’ ancient. Scared the pants off me, it did.
Scary movies ain’t for everyone, so if you are brave enough and love being frightened then watch those Amityville-like movies.
This movie really gets under your skin, makes you think about things you don’t wanna think about.
