Alright, so you wanna know ’bout this Cuckoo movie, huh? Well, let me tell ya, it’s a real head-scratcher, this one. Not like them old black and white pictures we used to watch, no sir. This one’s got all sorts of colors and… and things happenin’. Makes an old gal like me dizzy sometimes.

First off, they talk about this Gretchen and Alma, sisters they are. Now, sisters, they can be a handful, I tell ya. Always bickerin’ and fightin’, but deep down, they love each other, or so they say. This movie, it shows how they grow up, which ain’t always easy, let me tell you. Kids these days, they got it too easy. Back in my day, we had to walk uphill both ways to school, in the snow, barefoot!

This movie, it’s about family, I guess. And how families can get all messed up. Seems like this Gretchen, she was close to her mama, but the daddy, he up and left. Got himself a new family, the scoundrel! Left them all alone. That kinda thing, it sticks with ya. Makes you wonder ’bout folks, you know?

Now, they call it a horror movie, but it ain’t like them slasher films where folks get chopped up and whatnot. This one’s different. It gets under your skin, makes you feel all creepy-crawly. They say it’s one of the best this summer, but I don’t know ’bout that. Summers used to be for watermelon and fireflies, not scary movies. But I guess times change.

  • Scary stuff, yeah, but not the jump-out-at-you kind. It’s more… unsettling.
  • The actors, they do a good job, I reckon. Especially that Hunter Schafer gal. Pretty as a picture, she is.
  • And that Dan Stevens fella, he’s in it too. Always playin’ them fancy-pants characters. He’s alright, I guess.

They filmed it up in the mountains, they did. Makes it all spooky and isolated. Reminds me of that old Overlook Hotel movie, the one with the crazy fella and the twins. You know the one I’m talkin’ ’bout. Mountains, they can do that to ya. Make you feel all alone and… lost.

The fella who made this movie, Tilman Singer, he’s from Germany. Foreign films, they always got somethin’ a little different about ’em. Not like them Hollywood pictures, all explosions and car chases. This one, it makes you think. Maybe too much for my old brain.

It’s a “nutty” movie, they say. And yeah, I guess it is. Things happen that don’t make no sense, and you’re left scratchin’ your head, wonderin’ what the heck is goin’ on. But that’s kinda the point, I think. Life ain’t always easy to understand, and neither is this movie.

They keep talkin’ ’bout 2024 horror films. Seems like they make a lot of ’em these days. Back in my time, we didn’t need no fancy movies to get scared. Just had to listen to the old folks tell stories ’bout ghosts and goblins. That’ll keep ya up at night, let me tell you.

So, should you see this Cuckoo movie? Well, that’s up to you. If you like scary movies that make you think, then maybe you will. But if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ light and fluffy, then this ain’t it. It’s a strange one, that’s for sure. But maybe that’s what makes it good, I dunno. I’m just an old lady, what do I know about movies?

But one piece of advice, if you do go see it, make sure you watch it on the biggest screen you can find. That way, you can really get creeped out. And maybe bring a friend, so you ain’t gotta be scared all by yourself.

That’s all I gotta say about this Cuckoo movie. It’s a wild ride, that’s for sure. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about scary movies makes me hungry for some good ol’ comfort food.
