Alright, let’s talk about this “Elemental” movie, you know, the one with the fire girl and the water fella. I saw it with my grandkids the other day, and well, it got me thinkin’. Don’t get me wrong, it was kinda cute, colorful and all, like them cartoons they make these days, but some things just didn’t sit right with me, you know?
First off, this whole “opposite attracts” thing. Fire and water, I mean, come on! It’s like mixin’ oil and vinegar. It just ain’t natural. But then again, maybe that’s the whole point, eh? They tryin’ to tell us somethin’ about gettin’ along, even if you’re different. Which is a good message, I guess. Kids these days need to learn a thing or two about that. We used to just say “live and let live,” but I reckon it’s more complicated now. The movie definitely pushes this idea of accepting differences, which ain’t a bad thing, I suppose.
Now, about them characters. Ember, the fire girl, she’s got a temper, like a firecracker, you know? Always flamin’ up. Reminds me a bit of my ol’ sister, bless her heart. Always ready to go off at the slightest thing. Wade, the water guy, he’s a real softie, always cryin’ and whatnot. A bit of a pushover, if you ask me. But I guess he means well. They kinda cute together, in a weird, opposites-attract kinda way.
- The animation was real pretty though, I gotta give ‘em that.
- All them colors and the way they made the fire and water move, it was somethin’ else.
My grandkids, they were glued to the screen, mouths open and all. Kids these days, they got it good with all this fancy technology.
But then there’s this other stuff, the stuff that made me scratch my head. This “woke” stuff, as they call it. I ain’t even sure what that means half the time, but it seems like they’re always tryin’ to sneak somethin’ in, you know? Like them two fellas in the background, holdin’ hands or whatever. My grandkids didn’t notice, thank the Lord, but I sure did. And it just ain’t right, not in a kids’ movie. I mean, what are they tryin’ to teach our children? It’s like they’re trying to make it normal, and I’m not comfortable with that. Back in my day, things were simpler. Man and woman, that’s how it was. But now, it’s all mixed up, and I don’t like it one bit.
And this occult stuff, the movieguide folks talked about. I didn’t see nothin’ outright devilish, but there was a certain… feelin’ to it, you know? Like they were playin’ with fire, so to speak. Spirits and elements and all that. It makes you wonder what kind of messages they’re sendin’ to our young’uns. I always say, stick to the good book and you’ll be alright. This new-age stuff, it’s just trouble. They sneak it in, these little bits of strangeness, and it adds up. I try to shield my grandkids from that sort of thing, but it’s gettin’ harder and harder these days.
But like I said, the movie wasn’t all bad. There was some good in there too. They talked about family, about workin’ hard and chasin’ your dreams. Ember’s family, they came from far away, worked hard to build a life for themselves. That’s somethin’ I can respect. Reminds me of my own folks, comin’ to this country with nothin’ but the clothes on their backs. And that whole “overcomin’ prejudice” thing, that was good too. People learnin’ to get along, even if they’re different. That’s a lesson we all need to learn, I reckon. But they didn’t need all that other stuff, the woke stuff and the occult stuff. They coulda made a good movie without all that nonsense.
Overall, I’d say it’s a mixed bag. Pretty to look at, got some good messages, but also got some stuff that made me uncomfortable. If you’re gonna take your kids, maybe have a talk with ‘em afterward, you know? Make sure they understand what’s right and what’s wrong. It’s important to teach them about family and hard work, but it’s also important to guide them through the confusing stuff. And if you’re lookin’ for a good Christian movie, well, this ain’t it. But it ain’t the worst thing I’ve ever seen neither. Just be careful, that’s all I’m sayin’. Be careful what you let your kids watch. The world’s a changin’, and not always for the better.
So yeah, that’s my take on “Elemental.” Take it or leave it. I’m just an old woman, what do I know? But I’ve seen a thing or two in my life, and I know when somethin’ ain’t right. And this movie, well, it’s got some good, but it’s also got some bad. You just gotta be discerning, you know? You gotta use your common sense. And that’s somethin’ they don’t teach you in school these days.
