Alright, let’s talk about this Netflix thing, you know, the one where them young folks watch all them shows. I heard they got ads now, like them old TV channels. Can you believe it? Paying money and still gotta watch ads, what a world!

So, they say they put these ads in when the show kinda stops for a bit, you know, like when they change scenes or somethin’. Makes it “seamless,” they say. Sounds fancy, but I bet it’s just a way to squeeze in more money-makin’ stuff. They put ads before the shows start too, and some new movies only got ads at the beginnin’. You can even see on that little bar thingy when the ads are comin’, like they’re givin’ you a warnin’ or somethin’.

Now, they got this new thing called “It’s So Good.” Sounds like somethin’ my grandkid would say about candy, not a TV ad campaign. But hey, what do I know? They got all them famous people in it, like that Cardi B girl, the one with all the fancy clothes, and that Simone Biles, the flippy gymnast. And that fella, Giancarlo somethin’-or-other, he’s always playin’ them bad guys. They’re all talkin’ ’bout their favorite shows on Netflix, tryin’ to get folks to watch, I guess. Smart cookies, them Netflix folks.

It’s all about grabbin’ your attention, see? Like when they put up them little clips on that Facebook thingy, you know, for Father’s Day or when them “Friends” folks got back together. They find somethin’ catchy and put it up there, hopin’ you’ll click on it and start watchin’ their shows. It’s like fishin’, but instead of worms, they usin’ Cardi B.

  • They gotta be smart about it though, these ads.
  • Can’t just be any old ad, gotta be somethin’ that makes you think, or laugh, or maybe even cry a little.
  • Gotta make you feel somethin’, otherwise you’ll just go make a sandwich durin’ the commercial break, right?

They say they got, what, 70 million folks watchin’ every month now? That’s a whole lotta eyeballs lookin’ at them screens. And they sayin’ they doin’ good everywhere, not just in America, but all over the world. Folks everywhere must be watchin’ them shows, even when they don’t understand the words, I guess. That’s the power of them pictures, they say a thousand words, or so the sayin’ goes.

I remember back in the day, we only had a few channels, and the ads were always the same. Soap, cars, and cigarettes, that’s all you ever saw. Now, it’s all different, ads for everything under the sun, even things you didn’t know you needed. And they’re everywhere too, not just on TV, but on that internet thing too. Can’t escape them ads, no matter where you go.

Remember that show, “House of Cards”? They did a whole bunch of ads for that one, I heard. Political stuff, you know, folks in suits talkin’ fancy. Guess they gotta make ads that fit the show, right? Can’t be showin’ cartoons durin’ a serious show, that wouldn’t make no sense.

So, this Netflix ad campaign, it’s a big deal, I guess. They gotta keep folks watchin’, gotta keep them payin’ that money, and gotta keep them ads comin’. It’s a whole circle of money-makin’, and we’re all just part of it, whether we like it or not.

They gotta be clever, them ad folks. Gotta know what people like, what they want, what makes ‘em tick. And they gotta put it all together in a way that makes you wanna buy somethin’, or watch somethin’, or do somethin’. It ain’t easy, I tell ya. But they make it look easy, that’s for sure.

Anyway, that’s what I think about this whole Netflix ad thing. It’s just another way to get your money, but hey, that’s the way the world works, ain’t it? You just gotta sit back, watch your shows, and try not to let them ads get to ya too much.
