Alright, alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about them “movies like Newness,” whatever that means. I ain’t never heard of this “Newness” thing, but the young’uns, they like it, so here we go. It’s all about findin’ other movies, see? Like, if you liked one, you wanna watch more like it, right? Makes sense, even to an old woman like me.
So, how do you find ’em? Well, some places, they got these fancy computers. You type in the movie name, like, say, “The Shawshank Redemption” – heard that one’s real good, though I ain’t seen it myself. Too much thinkin’ for me. Anyways, you type it in, and boom! The computer spits out a whole list of similar movies. Magic! Or maybe just fancy computin’, who knows?
- First, you gotta know the name of a movie you liked. That’s the startin’ point, see?
- Then, you find a place – a website, I guess – where you can type that name in.
- The computer does its thing, and you get a list. Easy peasy.
Now, some folks, they like to make their own lists. They pick their favorites, write ’em down. Like, “I liked this one, and that one, and oh, that handsome fella was in that other one.” That’s fine too. Everyone’s got their own way of doin’ things. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that. Me? I just watch whatever’s on the TV, but these young folks, they’re picky, always lookin’ for somethin’ specific.
And there are these websites, right? They call ’em “social networks” or somethin’. People go there, talk about movies, give ’em stars, write little notes about what they liked and didn’t like. It’s like a big ol’ gossip session, but about movies. Can you believe it? They even vote on ’em! Like, “This one’s good, give it five stars!” or “That one’s trash, give it one star!” It’s a whole to-do, I tell ya. But hey, if it helps ’em find somethin’ to watch, more power to ’em. Some places they do “recommendations”. Like, you watch this and then they tell you “watch that”. It’s like they think they know better than you what you should be watching. Hmph.
Then you got these “smart” movies. That’s what they call ’em, “smart.” I guess that means they make you think. Too much thinkin’ for me, I say. I like a good story, somethin’ with cowboys or maybe a nice romance. But these young’uns, they like them “sci-fi” things, with spaceships and aliens and all that jazz. Or them “dramas” where people just yell at each other for two hours. To each their own, I guess.
So, this whole “movies like Newness” thing, it’s just about findin’ other movies you might like. You can use those fancy computers, you can read other people’s lists and reviews, or you can just stumble around ’til you find somethin’ that looks good. It ain’t rocket science, even if some of these movies are about rockets. And listen, don’t let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn’t watch. If you like it, you like it. That’s all that matters. Don’t worry too much about findin’ the “perfect” movie. Just find somethin’ that keeps you entertained for a couple of hours, and that’s good enough. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go watch my stories.
And don’t forget, whether you say “film” or “movie,” it’s all the same. Some folks like to be fancy, use the word “film,” but it’s just pictures movin’ on a screen, that’s all it is. Don’t let ’em fool ya with their big words.
Finding a movie you like is sometimes like findin’ a good watermelon in the field. You gotta thump a few, look ’em over real close, and sometimes you still end up with a dud. But when you find a good one, oh boy, it’s worth it. So go on, find yourself a good movie and settle in for a nice evenin’. You deserve it. This here “Blink Twice” movie the youngsters are talkin’ about sounds strange. Too much flashin’ lights for these old eyes, I bet. They got all sorts of quizzes and things now to match you with a film too. It’s like they are tryin’ to do all the thinkin’ for you. Now where is that remote…
