Alright, alright, let me tell ya ’bout this here movie, “Wish,” I seen it the other day. Folks call it a “Christian movie review,” but I ain’t no preacher, just tellin’ it like it is.
So, this “Wish” movie, it’s about makin’ wishes and stuff. The main girl, she’s got a big heart, wants good things for everyone. That’s nice, ain’t it? Kinda like how we always hoped for a good harvest back in the day. You always wish for the best, you know?
They say some folks, the “media and culture analysts,” whatever that means, they put this movie together. Sounds fancy, but the story ain’t so complicated. It’s all about dreams and hopin’ and such. Reminds me of when my young’uns used to wish for candy at the store. Always wantin’ somethin’, kids are.
- The movie, it’s got pretty pictures, real colorful.
- The songs, they’re catchy enough. My grandbaby was tappin’ her feet.
- But somethin’ felt… off. Like a Sunday mornin’ without church bells.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ it’s a bad movie. It’s got good parts. Teaches you ’bout bein’ kind and helpin’ others. That’s important, right? We always told our kids to share their toys and be nice to their neighbors. Same kinda thing.
But this here movie, it don’t talk about God or Jesus or nothin’ like that. And that’s where it gets tricky. See, for folks like me, and maybe you too, God’s a big part of life. He’s like the sun in the sky, always there, always shinin’. This movie, it’s like they forgot the sun was up there.
Some folks say that’s okay, that movies don’t always need to be about church. And maybe they’re right. But it feels strange, you know? Like eatin’ a pie without no sugar. It fills your belly, but somethin’s missin’.
I heard some parents, they ain’t too happy ’bout it. They say it’s hard to find movies that fit with what they believe. And I get that. You want your kids learnin’ the right things, not just anythin’ they see on the screen. Gotta be careful what you put in their heads, you know? It’s like plantin’ seeds, you wanna plant good ones.
This “Wish” movie, it’s got good themes, like I said. Bein’ good, doin’ good. But it’s missin’ that somethin’ special. That God part. And that’s a shame, ’cause it coulda been real great. Like a quilt with all the pretty colors, but no thread to hold it together.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a movie with lots of Jesus and Bible verses, this ain’t it. But if you just want a nice story with some good lessons, well, it might be alright. Just don’t expect it to fill your soul like a good sermon. It’s more like a snack than a full meal, you see?
Overall, “Wish” is a decent movie. It’s pretty, it’s got good messages, but it ain’t gonna teach your kids about the Lord. And for some folks, that’s just fine. But for me, and maybe for you too, it leaves somethin’ to be desired. It’s like a garden with pretty flowers, but no water to make ‘em grow. You need that water, just like you need that God part in your life, and in your movies too, I reckon.
Anyways, that’s just my two cents. You go see it for yourself, make up your own mind. Just remember what I told ya, and you’ll be alright.
