Alright, so I watched this movie, “In Your Eyes”, and let me tell ya, it was somethin’ else. Don’t go expectin’ no big explosions or car chases, though. It’s all about love, ya know, the kind where folks just…feel each other, even if they ain’t never met. Weird, right? But kinda sweet, too, like them old-timey romance novels my granddaughter reads.
The story’s ’bout this fella and this gal, both livin’ different lives, miles and miles apart. He’s in some snowy place, drivin’ a fancy snowplow, and she’s…well, she’s somewhere warmer, got herself a husband and all, but she ain’t happy, not one bit. Then, boom! They start seein’ and feelin’ what the other one’s feelin’. Like, she feels the cold when he’s out in the snow, and he feels…well, whatever she’s feelin’. It’s kinda like they’re sharin’ the same soul or somethin’. My old bones ain’t used to thinkin’ about stuff like that, but there ya go.
- They talk to each other in their heads, which is mighty convenient, I gotta say. No need for long-distance phone calls or writin’ letters, just thinkin’ and the other one hears ya. Wish I coulda done that back in the day, saved me a whole lotta stamps.
- And let me tell ya, these two, they got problems. He’s got some trouble with the law, always lookin’ over his shoulder, and she’s stuck in a marriage that ain’t workin’. So, they kinda lean on each other, ya know? He gives her some strength, and she gives him somethin’ to look forward to. It’s like havin’ a best friend you can’t even see, but you feel ’em right here in your heart.
Now, some folks might say this movie’s a bit slow. Ain’t no shootin’ or fightin’ or nothin’ like that. It’s mostly just these two talkin’ in their heads, sharin’ their lives and feelin’s. But I kinda liked it that way. It’s peaceful, ya know? Like sittin’ on the porch swing on a summer evenin’, just watchin’ the fireflies. Makes you think about love and connection and all that mushy stuff. Not that I’m one for mushy stuff, mind you, but sometimes it’s nice to just…feel somethin’, ya know?
The endin’, well, it’s a bit…sudden, I guess. They finally meet up, after all that talkin’ and feelin’, and it’s like…poof! Movie over. Kinda leaves ya wantin’ more, but maybe that’s the point. Maybe they just wanted us to imagine what happens next. Maybe they get married, have a bunch of kids, and live happily ever after. Or maybe they just keep talkin’ in their heads, livin’ their separate lives, but always connected, always together in some way. Who knows? That’s the beauty of it, I guess. You get to make up your own ending.
Overall, I’d say “In Your Eyes” is a decent little movie. It ain’t gonna blow your socks off, but it’ll make ya think, make ya feel, and maybe even make ya believe in that whole soulmate thing. And if a grumpy old woman like me can enjoy it, well, then I reckon just about anyone can. So go on, give it a watch. You might just surprise yourself.
And I gotta say this, the actors, they did a good job, even though half the time they were just starin’ off into space, talkin’ to nobody. You could really see the emotions on their faces, ya know? Like they were really feelin’ what the other one was feelin’. That’s good actin’, if you ask me. Not like them fancy-pants actors in them big Hollywood movies, always yellin’ and carryin’ on. These folks were quiet, but they said a whole lot without even openin’ their mouths.
The movie, it also made me think about how we’re all connected, in some way or another. Maybe not like these two in the movie, sharin’ each other’s thoughts and feelin’s, but still connected. We all go through the same things, ya know? Love, loss, happiness, sadness. And maybe that’s what brings us together, even when we’re miles apart. It’s a comfortin’ thought, ain’t it?
Now, I ain’t no movie critic, mind you. I just like a good story, and this one, it was a good story. Simple, but sweet. And sometimes, that’s all ya need. A little bit of sweetness in this old world.
So yeah, “In Your Eyes”. Give it a shot. You might like it, you might not. But at least you can say you tried somethin’ different. And who knows, maybe you’ll even start lookin’ at the world a little bit differently after seein’ it. Maybe you’ll start lookin’ for that connection, that somethin’ special that ties us all together. Or maybe you’ll just go back to watchin’ them action movies. Either way, it’s your choice.
But I’ll tell you this, that whole idea of two people bein’ connected like that, it sticks with ya. It makes you wonder if there’s someone out there, thinkin’ the same thoughts, feelin’ the same feelin’s, even if you ain’t never met ’em. And maybe that’s enough, ya know? Maybe just knowin’ that someone’s out there, understandin’ you, that’s enough to keep you goin’ on them tough days. Makes you feel a little less alone in this big ol’ world.
