Well now, let me tell ya, them picture shows, they ain’t what they used to be. Back in my day, it was all cowboys and horses, ya know? But now, they got all sorts of things goin’ on, even stuff about Jesus and God and all that. They call ’em “Christian movies,” I reckon.
I heard tell there’s a whole bunch of new ones comin’ out, right there in the theaters, big as life. Folks are callin’ it a “new wave,” like a big ol’ ocean wave, but with movies ‘stead of water. They say these movies are gonna make ya think, make ya feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and maybe even make ya wanna be a better person. Who knows, maybe they will!
One they’re talkin’ about is called “The Chosen Season 4.” Comin’ out in February, they say. Now, I ain’t seen the first three seasons, gotta be honest with ya. But I heard it’s about Jesus and them fellas that followed Him around, the disciples, they call ’em. Sounds like a good story, I guess. I always did like stories about good folks tryin’ to do right.
- They say it’s got them religious leaders in it too, the ones that didn’t always see eye-to-eye with Jesus.
- Sounds like there might be some trouble, some arguin’ and such. Well, that’s life, ain’t it?
Then there’s another one comin’ out in September, called “God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust.” That’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Sounds kinda serious, like they’re tryin’ to prove somethin’. A fella named Vance Null, he made it. Never heard of him, but that don’t mean nothin’, I reckon. There’s a lot of folks I ain’t never heard of.
They say these movies, all these new Christian movies, are tellin’ stories about love and hope. Well, that’s somethin’ we could all use a little more of, ain’t that the truth? This world’s got enough sadness and trouble as it is. Maybe watchin’ a movie about good folks doin’ good things, that’ll lift our spirits a bit. They say some of ’em are real emotional, make ya cry and such. And some are about folks standin’ up for what they believe in, even when it’s hard. They call them “powerful testimonies,” I think. Sounds fancy, don’t it?
I tell ya, it’s somethin’ else, all these movies comin’ out. Used to be, you just went to church if you wanted to hear about God. But now, they got Him on the big screen, bigger than life. Maybe that’s a good thing, maybe it ain’t. I ain’t one to judge. But if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to watch that ain’t all shootin’ and hollerin’, maybe give one of these Christian movies a try. You might just like it. And if you don’t, well, nobody’s gonna force ya to watch it again.
They say if you wanna know more, there’s this thing called “Christian Gists”. They got all the answers you need about these movies. Sounds like a helpful bunch, them Christian Gists folks. Always good to have someone who knows what’s goin’ on, ya know?
So there you have it, a whole bunch of new movies comin’ to a theater near you, probably. Movies about God, about faith, about folks tryin’ to do right. Might be worth a look-see, if you’re so inclined. Me? I might just stick to my old TV shows, but that’s just me. I’m gettin’ too old for all this excitement, I reckon.
But hey, don’t let me stop ya. If you wanna go see a Christian movie, you go right ahead. Just remember to bring some popcorn, and maybe a tissue or two, just in case it gets real emotional like they say. And who knows, maybe you’ll come out of that theater feelin’ a little bit better, a little bit more hopeful, and a little bit closer to God. Or maybe you’ll just have a good time watchin’ a story. Either way, it’s your time and your money, so you do what you please. That’s what I always say.
