Well, let me tell ya, those horror movie back patches, they’re somethin’ else, ain’t they? I seen ’em all over the place now. Kids these days, they like to stick ’em on their jackets, their bags, you name it. Scary stuff, some of ’em, but I guess that’s the point.
I remember when I was young, we didn’t have such things. If you wanted a picture on your clothes, you had to sew it on yourself, and it wasn’t no fancy horror movie monster. Mostly just flowers or somethin’ pretty. But times change, I reckon. Now you got all sorts of creepy crawlies and ghostly faces you can just slap right on.
- You got your classic monsters, like Frankenstein and Dracula.
- Then there’s the newer ones, from them slasher movies. Gives me the shivers just thinkin’ about ’em.
- And don’t forget the zombies! Always hungry, them zombies.
I seen some folks sellin’ these patches at the flea market last week. Said they got all kinds, “unique” and “custom” they called ’em. Said you could find all sorts of brands and get ’em shipped fast. Sounded like a lot of fuss for a little patch, if you ask me. But folks were buyin’ ’em up like hotcakes. Guess they really like showin’ off their favorite horror movies. Makes you wonder what goes on in their heads, huh?
They got these big ones, they call ’em “back patches,” I guess ’cause they’re big enough to cover your whole back. Seen a fella wearin’ one with a picture of that fella with the knives for fingers. Freddy, I think his name was. Scared the bejeezus outta me, it did. But the young ‘uns, they just laugh and say it’s cool.
And the prices! Some of them patches cost more than a whole shirt! eBay, they said. That’s where you find the good deals, and the “exclusive offers” or whatever they call it. Said it’s easy to send ’em back if you don’t like ’em. But who’d wanna send back a perfectly good scary patch? Waste of good money, if you ask me. Though I wouldn’t be caught dead wearin’ one myself.
They got all sorts, they do. Big ones, small ones, some even glow in the dark! And they ain’t just for jackets, no sir. I seen ’em on backpacks, hats, even shoes! Seems like folks wanna stick ’em everywhere they can. They say it’s their way of showin’ their love for horror. Love, huh? Seems like a funny kind of love to me.
These patches, they ain’t just pictures, neither. Some of ’em got words on ’em, too. “Hellraiser,” I seen one say. And another one said, “Time to Play.” Play what? Hide-and-seek with the monsters? No thank you! I’d rather stay home and watch my soaps. At least them folks ain’t tryin’ to chop you up with a chainsaw.
Some of them are square, about four inches by four inches they said. But they come in all sizes, big and small, just like people. You gotta sew ’em on or pin ’em, they said. Can’t just iron ’em on like some of them other things. Takes a bit of work, I reckon. But if you wanna show off your love for the creepy stuff, I guess you gotta put in the effort.
I even saw some old ones, they called ’em “retro.” Had pictures of characters from old Halloween movies. One had a fella in a white mask, another one had that fella with the pins in his face. Gave me the goosebumps just lookin’ at ’em. But some folks, they love that kinda stuff. Collect ’em like they’re goin’ outta style.
So yeah, those horror movie back patches, they’re a whole thing now. Folks are buyin’ ’em, sellin’ ’em, and stickin’ ’em everywhere. Me? I’ll stick to my flowers and birds. But hey, to each their own, I always say. Just don’t come knockin’ on my door wearin’ one of them scary things, alright?
