How to Watch Netflix in Your Car, You Know, on That CarPlay Thingy
Alright, so you wanna watch your shows in the car, huh? Like that Netflix stuff? My grandkids are always yappin’ about it. Said I can watch my stories on that there CarPlay thing in the car. Took me a while, but I figured some things out, and I’m gonna tell ya how to do it, plain and simple.
First thing’s first, you gotta make sure your phone and car are talkin’ to each other. That’s what them young folks call “pairing.” You need that CarPlay thing set up. Go to your phone’s settings, the little gear thingy, then tap on “General,” then “CarPlay.” You should see your car’s name there. If not, well, you gotta figure that out first. Maybe ask a young’un, they know all about this stuff.
Now, there are two ways to get this Netflix thing goin’, far as I can tell.
First Way, Kinda Easy-Peasy: Using Them Apps
Some cars, the fancy new ones, I reckon, they let you put apps right on the CarPlay screen. It’s like your phone screen, but bigger and on your car.
- Step 1: Make sure your phone’s got the latest stuff. Them updates, ya know? Gotta keep things up to date, or nothin’ works right.
- Step 2: Go to that CarPlay thing again, in your phone’s settings, like I told ya before.
- Step 3: Look for somethin’ like “Customize.” Tap on that.
- Step 4: If you see Netflix on the list, just hit the little plus sign. Boom, it’s added. If it ain’t there, your car might not be fancy enough, or maybe you gotta do it the other way.
Second Way, A Bit More Fiddlin’: The Mirror Thing
If that first way didn’t work, don’t go gettin’ your feathers ruffled. There’s another way, but it’s a bit more… roundabout.
- Step 1: You gotta get one of them adapter doohickeys. Plugs into your phone and your car. Them young folks at the store can help ya find one. Tell ’em you wanna “mirror” your phone to the car screen.
- Step 2: Plug that thing in, follow the directions it comes with. Usually, it’s pretty simple, just plug and play, they say.
- Step 3: Now, on your phone, you gotta find that “screen mirroring” thing. It might be called somethin’ else, depends on your phone. Sometimes you gotta swipe down from the top, sometimes it’s in the settings. Ask a grandkid if you get stuck.
- Step 4: Once your phone screen is showin’ on the car screen, just open the Netflix app like you always do. Tada! You should see your shows.
Few Things to Remember, Now
Watchin’ movies while drivin’ ain’t smart, ya hear? Only do this when you’re parked, waitin’ for someone, or on a long trip and someone else is drivin’. Safety first, that’s what I always say.
And sometimes, this stuff just don’t work right. Phones and cars, they can be finicky. If it ain’t workin’, try unplugging and pluggin’ back in, or turnin’ your phone off and on. If that don’t do it, well, maybe ask for help. No shame in that.
This whole thing can be a bit of a hassle, I ain’t gonna lie. But once you get it figured out, it’s kinda nice to watch your stories on that big screen in the car. Just remember, pay attention to the road first, movies second. And if you get stuck, ask those young folks. They’re good for somethin’!
One more thing. I heard tell there are different versions of this carplay thing. And different phones do things a bit differently too. So, what works for one person might not work for another. It’s like bakin’ a cake, sometimes you gotta adjust the recipe a little to get it just right.
And don’t go fiddlin’ with this stuff while you are drivin’. Pull over someplace safe, or get someone to help you. We don’t need anyone gettin’ hurt just tryin’ to watch their shows.
Well, that’s all I know about it. Hope it helps ya watch your Netflix in the car. Now, go on and enjoy your stories!
