Well now, let me tell ya ’bout this movie theater thing in Bayonne, New Jersey. It ain’t nothin’ fancy, mind you, but it gets the job done if ya wanna see a picture show.
First off, ya gotta find the place, right? They got a few of ’em, I hear. Some big ones, some not so big. AMC Jersey Gardens 20, that’s a big one, they say. Lots of movies playin’ all the time. Then there’s that old Loew’s Jersey Theatre. That one’s been around forever, like me! Folks say it’s real pretty inside, all fancy-like. And don’t forget Regal Battery Park, that’s another one people talk about.
Now, findin’ showtimes, that’s a whole ‘nother story. You can go online, they say. Fandango, that’s what my grandkids use. They type in somethin’ like “movie theaters near me” or “showtimes in Bayonne” and it pops right up. I ain’t got no use for that internet stuff, too complicated for my old brain. I just ask my neighbor’s kid, he knows all about it.
Buyin’ tickets, well, you can do that online too, but I like to go right to the theater. Talk to a real person, ya know? Get my ticket and maybe some popcorn. Speaking of popcorn, that stuff ain’t cheap, let me tell ya! But it smells so good, ya just gotta have it. It’s part of the whole movie experience, like they say.
Theaters these days, they got all sorts of fancy things. Comfy chairs, they say. Big screens, sound that makes your ears ring. Some even got them 3D glasses, makes the picture jump right out at ya! Back in my day, we just had hard seats and a scratchy picture, and we were happy to have it!

They play all sorts of movies now, too. Action movies, with lots of explosions and fightin’. Funny movies, that make you laugh till your belly hurts. Scary movies, that make you jump out of your seat. And them love stories, always makin’ me cry. Sometimes they even make movies outta them Broadway shows, like that Wicked one my granddaughter keeps talkin’ about.
Tuesday, that’s the day to go if ya wanna save a little money, they say. Tuesdays Are for Ticket Savings, that’s what the signs say. But I don’t go out much at night anymore, too dark and too many crazy drivers. I prefer to go in the afternoon, when it’s quiet and there ain’t so many people around.
The first movie theater, they say it opened way back in 1896 in New York City. Can ya believe that? More than a hundred years ago! And now we got ’em all over the place, even right here in Bayonne. It’s somethin’, ain’t it?
So, if you’re lookin’ for a movie theater in Bayonne, New Jersey, you got a few choices. Just figure out what kinda movie you wanna see, find a showtime that works for ya, and head on over. It ain’t a bad way to spend a few hours, especially if it’s rainin’ or somethin’. Just don’t forget your wallet, ’cause them tickets and popcorn ain’t free, that’s for sure!
