Alright, let’s talk about this movie, “Company Men”, and where they filmed it. I heard folks sayin’ it was shot all over the place, mostly in some big city called Boston.
Boston, huh? Big place, lots of hustle and bustle. I reckon they filmed a good chunk of it there. See, this movie, it’s about these fellas, workin’ for some big company, and then, bam! They get the boot. Company says, “Sorry, no more work for you.” Just like that. Leaves ‘em scramblin’, tryin’ to figure out what to do next.
One place they filmed, I heard tell, was a bar. A real fancy place called Daisy Buchanan’s, on some street named Newbury. That’s where one of them fellas, Gene, finds another fella, Phil. Probably drownin’ their sorrows, I guess. Wouldn’t blame ‘em. Losing your job, that’s a tough one. Makes you feel like you ain’t worth nothin’.
They also went to some shipyard, Fore River Shipyard, they called it. Over in Quincy, Massachusetts. Big ships, lots of metal, probably cold and drafty. Don’t know what they filmed there, but I bet it had somethin’ to do with work, seein’ as how the movie’s all about work and losin’ it.
- Boston: Lots of scenes filmed in the city, probably showin’ the big buildings and the busy streets.
- Daisy Buchanan’s: That fancy bar where the fellas met up.
- Fore River Shipyard: Big place with ships, probably showin’ the kind of work these fellas used to do.
- Wellesley: I heard they filmed some of it in a place called Wellesley, in some fancy neighborhood called Cliff Estates. They even made it look like winter, even if it wasn’t winter when they were filming. Rich folks, I guess, livin’ in them fancy houses.
This movie, it ain’t just about the work, though. It’s about how losin’ that work affects these fellas, their families, their whole lives. Makes ‘em question who they are, what they’re supposed to do. It’s a tough watch, I reckon, but it’s real. Stuff like that happens to folks all the time. One minute you’re on top of the world, the next you’re scrapin’ by, tryin’ to make ends meet.
The movie came out in 2011, they say. Not too long ago, really. Guess it was a small release, only in a few theaters at first. But I hear it’s a good one, shows you how things really are, not all sugar-coated and pretty. It shows you the hard times, the struggles. Makes you think about what’s important in life.

Filmin’ a movie, that’s a big job, I tell you. All them cameras and lights, and people runnin’ around. And they gotta find all these different places to film, make it look just right. Like that house they turned into a winter wonderland, even though it wasn’t winter. That’s some trickery, ain’t it?
This Ben Affleck fella, he’s in it too. Big star, they say. He’s probably one of them company men, losin’ his job and all. I ain’t seen the movie myself, mind you, but I heard enough about it to know it ain’t no comedy. It’s about real life, and real life ain’t always funny. It’s about a big company cuttin’ jobs, savin’ money, but not carin’ about the folks who work for ‘em. That’s just plain wrong, if you ask me.
So, yeah, Boston, Quincy, Wellesley… these are the places they filmed “Company Men.” Places where regular folks live and work, and sometimes lose their jobs. It’s a story about tough times, but it’s also a story about findin’ your way, even when things get hard. And that’s somethin’ we can all relate to, ain’t it? We all gotta find our way, no matter what life throws at us.
